Apple’s Grammy ads were all about Apple. Google’s was about the rest of us

The iPhone X has Animoji, if you didn’t know. … Google had stories of hope to tell instead.

I admit, I still have no idea what a Despacito is. I can’t tell if Khalid is a DJ or just a regular dude. The line blurs between SZA and Sia (though they both kick some serious ass) and Pink looked exceptionally blonde to me. (Those high notes, though.)

I’m a nearly 40-year-old white guy. The Grammys maybe aren’t for me  [Read More…]

Samsung Galaxy A8+ review: Throwing down the gauntlet

The Galaxy A8+ is Samsung’s most ambitious showing in the mid-range segment, but that may not be enough.

Samsung is in a tough spot in India. The South Korean manufacturer was virtually unchallenged in the country for the last five years, allowing it to build a commanding lead in the handset segment. The Note 7 was the only blip in an otherwise smooth-sailing ship, but with the device never actually making its debut in the country, Samsung  [Read More…]

‘Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition’ may launch on February 9 for $20

The same Final Fantasy XV you know and love, just smaller.

Although I haven’t spent as much time with it as I should, Final Fantasy is one of the oldest gaming series around that’s fostered some pretty amazing titles. Final Fantasy XV is widely considered to be one of the better recent entries, and soon you’ll be able to bring that same adventure with you wherever you go with “Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition.”

This $7 Aukey charger has two USB ports and looks like it’s built into your vehicle

It’s barely noticeable.

This Aukey dual USB car charger is one of the most popular options out there for several reasons. First up, the price. Right now you can pick one up for just $ 7.03 when you enter the coupon code AUKEYCS5 during checkout at Amazon, a savings of just over $ 3. Second up, the size. It’s small enough that it looks like it’s built right into the cigarette lighter and it has two ports  [Read More…]

Here’s how Nest Hello can out-doorbell Ring

The leading smart doorbell is about to get a huge competitor in the form of the Alphabet-owned Nest Hello.

Ring isn’t the only company that makes a smart doorbell. It hasn’t been for a long time, actually. But the number of competitors that it’s had to deal with have been few and far between. And for the most part, almost no one has come out with anything that looks remotely acceptable as a way to greet a  [Read More…]

Truly bezel-less in smartphones isn’t worth the effort

The headline to this article may sound like I don’t care about the recent trend to reduce bezel in smartphones, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. I was a bezel-hater since the early days, and it drove me nuts year after year how barely anyone acknowledged that they were a nuisance. Especially as […]

T-Mobile will use 100% renewable electricity by 2021

T-Mobile is expected to save $ 100 million in energy costs over the next 15 years.

T-Mobile often markets itself as the Un-Carrier in the United States, and now the company is aiming to position itself as the Un-Non-Renewable Electricity User. Bad jokes aside, T-Mobile just announced that it’ll be joining the RE100 initiative to start using 100% renewable energy sources.

The Un-Carrier’s current goal is to move to 100% renewable electricity by 2021, and as a  [Read More…]

Amazon Super Bowl teaser hints at new Alexa voices

Whatcha doing there, Amazon?

On Sunday, February 4, the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots will go head-to-head during Super Bowl LII. I’ve never been one for sports, but like a lot of people, I’ll be watching for the entertaining/amazingly cringy commercials. Amazon recently shared a teaser clip for the ad it’ll be airing Sunday night, and it suggests that some changes may be coming to Alexa.

The 30-second clip starts out with a woman brushing her teeth  [Read More…]

Samsung will launch pre-orders on March 2nd for the Galaxy S9 in South Korea

While the opening of the pre-orders for the Galaxy S9 in South Korea will not be relevant to 99% of our audience, it does offer some extremely relevant information for those interested in the next-generation Samsung device. We already know that Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S9 during Mobile World Congress 2018 next […]
