Huawei introduces the mid-range Ascend G7

Trademark dispute with Twitter forces Twitpic to shut down

It looks like Twitter is using its legal powers to force Twitpic to shut down over trademark disputes. Effective September 25th, the Twitter-linked photo sharing service will cease to operate. According to Twitpic, a tool should become available over the next few days that will allow current users to export their photos and videos should they choose to archive their shared multimedia content for longevity after the service is gone.

Google settles with FTC for $19 million due to in-app charges dispute

The Federal Trade Commission has announced a settlement agreement with Google, for $ 19 million, in a complaint that claimed Google was billing parents unfairly for in-app purchases that were made by their children without the parent’s consent.

Panasonic’s ultra-rugged FZ-X1 Toughpad now available

IFA 2014 Panasonic has added a rugged Android-powered smartphone to the deluge of hardware coming out of IFA this week. The announcement of the Toughpad FZ-X1 goes all the way back to Mobile World Congress, but today marks retail availability of the Android version of the handset for £1024. The Windows model will be coming out in November.
