Armed robbers raid Brazilian Samsung factory for 40,000 devices

At a Samsung factory in Brazil armed robbers hijacked a night shift bus, subdued workers, and made off with 40,000 devices, including smartphones, tablets, and notebook computers. Police estimate the value of the goods at $ 36 million, though Samsung says that’s too high. Other estimates place the value at $ 6.3 million. Roughly 20 gang members were involved in the incident, which São Paulo authorities are currently investigating. Luckily nobody was hurt in the robbery.

Samsung says they are losing profit due to a weak demand for their low-mid tier smartphones

ZTE launches Nubia Z7, Z7 Max and Z7 Mini

CyanogenMod 11.0 M8 begins rolling out to select devices


For avid followers of CyanogenMod you’ll be pleased to hear that version 11.0 M8 that moves to the Android 4.4.4 KitKat codebase has hit download servers today for a select few devices.

CyanogenMod 11.0 M8 rolling out to select devices

There’s a new version of CyanogenMod hitting download servers for select devices today, with more to follow later this month. Samsung’s profits plummet in Q2 as smartphone demand weakens

Samsung’s second quarter earnings forecast sees a 24 percent decline in profit from the same period last year, which is mainly attributed to a waning interest in the smartphone market.
