EE announces 16 UK launch locations for 2019 5G rollout

You’ve probably heard of EE — they’re the largest mobile carrier in the UK, and part of the even larger holding company BT Group. Earlier today, the company announced which UK cities will be included in the initial rollout of its upcoming 5G network next year.

LG might announce a foldable smartphone at CES 2019

OnePlus plans on launching the first 5G phone in Europe in 2019

The 5G phone will exist alongside OnePlus’s other LTE handsets.

OnePlus just announced the OnePlus 6T earlier this morning, but even so, the company’s already hard at work on its successor. In an interview with The Verge, CEO Pete Lau confirmed that it plans on launching a 5G-capable phone in Europe as early as next year.

Samsung will debut UFS 3.0 storage in 2019; LPDDR5 launching in 2020

Samsung and Micron are building memory products tailored for 5G.

At Qualcomm’s 4G/5G Summit in Hong Kong, Samsung’s head of mobile memory product planning Jay Oh revealed that the next wave of Unified File Storage (UFS) products will launch in the first half of 2019.

Qualcomm’s 5G modem will debut on ‘at least’ two flagships in 2019

Qualcomm’s latest 5G modem is 25% smaller and is ready to make its way into phones next year.

Qualcomm debuted its QTM052 mmWave antenna module earlier this year, and at the 4G/5G summit in Hong Kong, the chip vendor launched a new version that’s 25% smaller. The new design allows device manufacturers to implement it into their products without sacrificing the aesthetic, and Qualcomm has also announced that it secured new partners for its 5G modem.

Metro by T-Mobile to be the first prepaid brand to offer 5G service in 2019

Recently, T-Mobile announced it was rebranding its prepaid brand MetroPCS to Metro by T-Mobile and also introduced new plans. The Magenta carrier touted the change as a way to eliminate the distinction between prepaid and postpaid service.
