Google Assistant is making its way to third-party speakers and appliances

Google Assistant is coming to a lot of third-party devices later this year.

Amazon opened up Alexa to third-party developers last year, resulting in a series of products powered by the retailer’s digital assistant. Google followed suit earlier this year by making the Google Assistant SDK available to developers, and we’re now starting to see the first thrid-party products powered by Google Assistant.

LG promotes home appliances head to CEO

LG has moved to a single CEO structure.

LG has promoted the head of its home appliances division, Jo Seong-jin, to vice chairman and CEO of the company. A forty-year veteran of LG, Seong-jin was pivotal in turning the South Korean manufacturer’s fortunes in the home appliances segment. As CEO, Seong-jin will oversee all of LG’s business units — including its mobile arm — as the company gets ready for a challenging 2017.

LG’s new smart sensor will turn your old appliances into connected gadgets

LG has announced that the company will be showcasing the latest smart home technology and products at this year’s IFA 2015. The new announcements will include the SmartThinQ Sensor, which can be attached to existing home appliances, including refrigerators and washing machines, as well as the Smart Lightwave Oven and Smart Air Conditioner with support for AllJoyn.
