MTS shareholders vote to approve $3.9 billion acquisition by Bell

BCE, parent company of Canada’s third-largest wireless carrier Bell Mobility, has now overcome at least one hurdle to acquiring Manitoba Telecom Services (MTS), with the majority of MTS shareholders approving the deal.

In fact, the resolution received near-unanimous approval from shareholders, says MTS:

The Arrangement Resolution was approved by 99.66% of the 43,098,172 votes cast by Shareholders present in person or represented by proxy at the special meeting of Shareholders held earlier today.

Opera shareholders approve acquisition by Chinese group

A majority of Opera Software shareholders have voted in favor of a deal that would see the company be acquired by a consortium of China-based parties. As noted by TechCrunch, the deal is worth $ 1.2 billion and will see Golden Brick, a group of companies including Qihoo 360 and Kunlun, take full control of the Norwegian internet brand and software developer.

Motorola Mobility stockholders approve merger with Google

Not that we ever really expected otherwise, but the shareholders of Motorola Mobility today approved the company’s merger with Google. Motorola says 99 percent of the votes were in favor of the merger, and the votes represented about 74 percent of the company’s outstanding shares as of Oct. 11.
