Subway Surfers is the first game to hit 1 billion downloads on the Play Store

The game still has 20 million daily players.

Endless running games are a dime-a-dozen nowadays, but one of the oldest and most iconic is Subway Surfers. Subway Surfers was first released on the Google Play Store in May of 2012, and on March 15, 2018, developers SYBO and Kiloo announced that it’s the first game to cross 1 billion downloads on the Play Store.

Over 3.2 billion bad online ads were removed by Google in 2017

That’s over 100 ads every second.

The Internet is a wonderful thing and wealth of endless information, but obtrusive online advertisements can quickly dimish the joy of using it. Amazon to purchase smart doorbell company Ring for over a billion dollars

Amazon will soon be purchasing Ring, a company that sells smartphone-connected doorbells with video cameras built in. This deal is reportedly going to cost Amazon over $ 1 billion.

The acquisition makes perfect sense for both companies. Amazon generally allows acquired companies to continue operating as normal, but Ring will now have Amazon’s resources available to it. Amazon gets another smart company to bolster its smart home offerings, something which both Amazon and Google have been pushing hard.

Amazon has purchased smart doorbell maker Ring for over $1 billion

Similar to Zappos and Twitch, Ring will retain its own branding.

Ring is a fairly big name in the smart home gadget space, and it’s most well-known for its doorbells and security lights. One of its biggest competitors is the Google-owned Nest, and according to a report from Reuters, Ring’s just been purchased by Amazon for over $ 1 billion.

Qualcomm increases NXP offer to $44 billion amidst Broadcom drama

Qualcomm’s increasing its original bid by 16%.

Earlier this month, Qualcomm remained resilient against Broadcom by declining the company’s second buyout offer of $ 121 million. Shortly after this, Qualcomm has increased its offer to NXP by 16% in an attempt to get Broadcom off of its back.

NXP is a Dutch semiconductor business that’s primarily involved with the creation of infotainment systems in automobiles, and this bid increase would see Qualcomm pay $ 127.50 per each  [Read More…]

Google says device shipments more than doubled in 2017, passed $100 billion in annual revenue

Google made a heap of cash in 2017.

Google is huge, and as you’d expect, pulls in money from a lot of different sources. The company just shared its latest financial report that showcases numbers for its performance in Q4 and all of 2017, and there’s a mixture of growth and loss.

Looking at Google’s total revenue in 2017, the company made $ 110.9 billion – an increase of 23% compared to its total earnings in 2016.  [Read More…]

Google has officially completed its $1.1 billion HTC deal

All the pieces are in place to make the Pixel 3 as awesome as possible.

A few days before Google unveiled the Pixel 2 at its October hardware event, it was announced that the company would be spending $ 1.1 billion to acquire around 2,000 HTC employees to beef up its hardware division. Spotify discovered to have filed for IPO shortly after $1.6 billion lawsuit

Big things are happening with Spotify.

Among all the music streaming services that are on the market right now, there’s no denying that Spotify is one of the biggest. Google has made a strategic investment in HTC, and is hiring its best phone engineers.

After intense speculation and lots of pontificating by tech pundits, Google has made it official: it’s going into business with HTC.

Facebook has reached a new milestone.

2 billion people now use Facebook every month, which is an incredible feat for a single platform to reach. On average, 800 million people “like” something on Facebook every single day. Surprisingly, over 1 billion people are using Facebook Groups every month. Those are just absolutely bonkers numbers to think about.
