T-Mobile inks $3.5 billion deal with Nokia over 5G network equipment

T-Mobile starts laying the groundwork for its 5G network.

T-Mobile has announced that it is teaming up with Nokia to deploy its 5G network. The $ 3.5 billion deal will see Nokia provide T-Mobile with 5G equipment as well as software and services support. T-Mobile’s initial 5G push will include 30 cities, with work set to commence this year. Alphabet Q2 2018 earnings: $32.7 billion revenue, $2.8 billion income despite massive EU fine

Strong growth continues for this already-massive company.

Alphabet has just released its Q2 2018 earnings report, showing another quarter of strong growth. The company had revenues of $ 32.7 billion for the quarter, which is up 26% year-over-year — extremely impressive for a company of this size. Operating income was just $ 2.8 billion, which is due in large part to the recent $ 5 billion fine from the European Union.

Google defends Android following $5 billion fine from European Commission

The EC claims Google is too heavy-handed with its services on the OS.

Less than a week ago, a report claimed that the European Commission was in talks to fine Google for heavily pushing its software/services on Android. The EC has since made that news official and is charging Google €4.3 billion (around $ 5 billion USD).

Google might face a $2.82 billion fine for pushing its services on Android

Xiaomi IPO falls far short of $100 billion goal but it’s still worth a buttload of money

On Monday, Xiaomi joined the Hong Kong Hang Seng index with a $ 54 billion debut. This is far less than the estimated $ 100 billion number that was floated months ago, with it closing on Monday at HK$ 17 per share. Tuesday saw it rise up to HK$ 19 per share but still puts it at far less than the original Xiaomi IPO estimate.

Sonos files to go public, expected to make $1 billion in revenue in 2018

The company plans on raising as much as $ 100 million for its IPO.

On Friday morning, July 6, Sonos officially filed to become a publically traded company.

Sonos will be traded on Nasdaq as SONO and plans on raising as much as $ 100 million leading up to its IPO (initial public offering). However, as noted by MarketWatch, “that amount was estimated as a placeholder amount.”

AT&T has officially purchased Time Warner for $85 billion

This will allow AT&T to bring a “fresh approach” to the media industry.

Nearly two years after initially proposing its acquisition plans, AT&T announced on June 14, 2018, that it had officially completed the deal to purchase Time Warner for a sum of $ 85 billion.

AT&T granted approval to acquire Time Warner for $85 billion

The decision comes after a six-week-long trial.

For the past six weeks, AT&T has been in court over concern of its want to purchase Time Warner for a total of $ 85 billion. On Tuesday, June 12, Judge Richard Leon of the United States District Court in Washington D.C. officially approved the deal.

Leon says that the acquisition doesn’t violate any antitrust laws, and in response to the government asking Leon to put down his own ruling  [Read More…]

T-Mobile Q1 earnings show $10.46 billion in revenue and record low turnover

The carrier also added 1.4 million new subscribers.

On Monday, May 1, T-Mobile announced its financial report for Q1 of 2018. Although earnings are down by 2.5% compared to this time last year, T-Mobile is showing strong numbers every else across the board.
