AT&T has officially purchased Time Warner for $85 billion

This will allow AT&T to bring a “fresh approach” to the media industry.

Nearly two years after initially proposing its acquisition plans, AT&T announced on June 14, 2018, that it had officially completed the deal to purchase Time Warner for a sum of $ 85 billion.

AT&T granted approval to acquire Time Warner for $85 billion

The decision comes after a six-week-long trial.

For the past six weeks, AT&T has been in court over concern of its want to purchase Time Warner for a total of $ 85 billion. On Tuesday, June 12, Judge Richard Leon of the United States District Court in Washington D.C. officially approved the deal.

Leon says that the acquisition doesn’t violate any antitrust laws, and in response to the government asking Leon to put down his own ruling  [Read More…]

T-Mobile Q1 earnings show $10.46 billion in revenue and record low turnover

The carrier also added 1.4 million new subscribers.

On Monday, May 1, T-Mobile announced its financial report for Q1 of 2018. Although earnings are down by 2.5% compared to this time last year, T-Mobile is showing strong numbers every else across the board.

Xiaomi expected to go public with $10 billion IPO

If true, this will be 2018’s largest IPO to-date.

Depending on where you live, Xiaomi is either huge in your country or hardly known at all. The 8-year-old company is currently the fifth largest smartphone brand in the world, and according to people familiar with the matter, is expected to go public with an Initial Public Offering (IPO) of 10 billion USD.

T-Mobile and Sprint are coming together in a $ 26.5 billion mega-merger that’s all about 5G.

The rumors and speculation swirling for years are fomenting into a dust cloud of money. Alphabet Q1 2018 earnings: $31 billion revenue leads to $7 billion income

First quarter sees strong double-digit growth overall, with advertising driving a bulk of the business.

Alphabet, the parent company comprised of Google and various other subsidiaries, has just released its Q1 2018 earnings. The top-level numbers are strong: $ 31.1 billion in revenue, leading to $ 7 billion in operating income for the three months. Subway Surfers is the first game to hit 1 billion downloads on the Play Store

The game still has 20 million daily players.

Endless running games are a dime-a-dozen nowadays, but one of the oldest and most iconic is Subway Surfers. Subway Surfers was first released on the Google Play Store in May of 2012, and on March 15, 2018, developers SYBO and Kiloo announced that it’s the first game to cross 1 billion downloads on the Play Store.

Over 3.2 billion bad online ads were removed by Google in 2017

That’s over 100 ads every second.

The Internet is a wonderful thing and wealth of endless information, but obtrusive online advertisements can quickly dimish the joy of using it. We already knew that Google made a lot of efforts last year to keep bad ads off the web, but now the company’s shed light on just how many violations it dealt with.

Amazon to purchase smart doorbell company Ring for over a billion dollars

Amazon will soon be purchasing Ring, a company that sells smartphone-connected doorbells with video cameras built in. This deal is reportedly going to cost Amazon over $ 1 billion.

The acquisition makes perfect sense for both companies. Amazon generally allows acquired companies to continue operating as normal, but Ring will now have Amazon’s resources available to it. Amazon gets another smart company to bolster its smart home offerings, something which both Amazon and Google have been pushing hard.
