An event will be held in New York to unveil the phone.

There’s been talk over the past few weeks about a possible successor to last year’s BlackBerry KEYone, and thanks to an announcement from BlackBerry itself, we now know exactly when it’s coming.

BlackBerry is suing Snap Inc. for BBM patent infringements

Nobody is safe.

Snap Inc. – the parent company behind Snapchat – is being sued by BlackBerry over digital messaging patents it’s supposedly infringed on. These patents are owned by BlackBerry and were used to help create the company’s once-iconic BBM messaging service.

BlackBerry’s accusing Snap Inc. of infringing on six patents that were filed between 2012 and 2014, and two of them are the same ones that Facebook reportedly infringed on, too.

BlackBerry sues Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp for patent infringements

Facebook will be contesting the suit.

Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp are three of the biggest names in the social media space, and they’re all being sued by BlackBerry for infringing on patents the company holds for its BlackBerry Messenger app.

BlackBerry officially filed the lawsuit on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, in Los Angeles, CA, and the company is requesting that the claims are heard by a jury in court.
