FCC Chairman Ajit Pai won’t be attending CES 2018 due to death threats

Disagreeing with the guy’s one thing, but death threats are never okay.

No matter who you are, there’s a good chance you’re at least somewhat familiar with FCC Chairman Ajit Pai. Pai proposed to repeal Obama-era net neutrality laws that have been in place since 2015, and on December 15, 2017, this proposal was officially passed in a 3-2 vote.

Eric Schmidt leaving Executive Chairman role, becoming ‘technical advisor’ at Alphabet

January will bring a big change at the highest ranks of Alphabet.

Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt is stepping down from his position as Executive Chairman of the Board at Google’s parent company Alphabet. He will remain at the company in a new position as a “technical advisor,” and remain on the Board of Directors in a typical member capacity, building on his 17 years at the company thus far.

FCC chairman recommends approval of AT&T’s pending DirecTV acquisition

FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler has officially come out in support of AT&T’s proposed $ 49 billion acquisition of DirecTV, recommending that the regulatory commission approve the deal. However, in order for the deal to go through, Wheeler is asking AT&T to agree to some conditions, including stricter net neutrality requirements.

Sprint chairman claims carrier will start ‘massive price war’ if T-Mobile buyout allowed to go through

FCC chairman asks for judicial review of AT&T T-Mobile merger, AT&T responds

The FCC chariman today recommended the $ 39 billion merger of AT&T and T-Mobile be sent for an official review by an administrative law judge.  Federal Communications Commission Chairman Julius Genachowski suggested this course of action to fellow commissioners, citing that the FCC found the deal “would significantly diminish competition and lead to massive job losses.”  Genachowski’s order still requires the approval of a majority of the commissioners, and if  [Read More…]
