Google’s investing $550 million into Chinese shopping site JD.com

This is part of a new “strategic partnership” Google’s starting with JD.

Similar to how Amazon is the go-to online retailer in the United States, JD.com is China’s second-largest website for buying everything from smartphones to soda. On June 18, Google announced that it’s partnering with JD.com and plans to invest $ 550 million in the company.

Huawei is the only Chinese company in Forbes’ 2018 Most Valuable Brands

The company’s valued at $ 8.4 billion.

Phones like the Mate 10 and P20 Pro have made 2018 an awesome year for Huawei so far, and all of that hard work appears to have paid off. The company recently announced that it was placed in Forbes’ Most Valuable Brands for the second year in the row and is the only Chinese company on the list for 2018.

Chinese government blocks WhatsApp ahead of Communist Party meeting

WhatsApp falls to the Great Firewall.

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and most Google services are blocked in China, and WhatsApp is now joining that list. As reported by The New York Times, the Chinese government is cracking down on the Facebook-owned messaging service, with users all over the country facing disruptions.

Huawei could be developing its own voice assistant for the Chinese market

Huawei is working on a voice assistant for Chinese customers.

Huawei already develops its own application processors through its HiSilicon subsidiary, and it looks like the manufacturer is now working on a voice assistant to further differentiate its products in its home market. According to Bloomberg, work on developing a voice-based assistant that will rival Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant is underway:
