Facebook is pushing back its smart speaker following privacy concerns

This is probably for the best.

Between May 1 and 2 this year, Facebook will host its annual F8 Developer Conference in San Jose, California. This year’s event was supposed to be where Facebook would introduce the world to its first smart speaker, but these plans have apparently been scrapped.

President Trump preemptively blocks Broadcom’s Qualcomm takeover, citing national security concerns

This one is finally settled.

The seemingly never-ending saga of Broadcom‘s attempted takeover of Qualcomm has all-but-ended, as President Trump today issued an order that the deal will not be allowed to go through under the assertion that it would be a threat to U.S. national security. London refuses to renew Uber’s license to operate due to safety concerns

Transport for London announced today that it would not be renewing Uber’s license to operate, citing Uber’s current policies regarding safety and security as grounds for the decision.

According to a statement released by TfL, Uber’s license will expire on September 30. However, Uber has 21 days to appeal this decision in Britains courts, and will be allowed to continue to operate while any appeals remain ongoing. Kaspersky software banned at U.S. federal agencies amid concerns of Kremlin ties

U.S. federal agencies have been directed to stop using Kaspersky software by the Department of Homeland Security.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has directed federal agencies to end their use of Kaspersky software amid concerns over the company’s ties to the Russian government, The Washington Post reports. Oculus update disables Gear VR App on Galaxy Note 7 due to safety concerns

Oculus disables Gear VR functionality on Galaxy Note 7 due to fire concerns
