Don’t hold out for new Xiaomi phones at MWC.
Xiaomi unveiled the Mi 5 at last year’s Mobile World Congress, but the company won’t be announcing a new device this time around. In a statement to TechCrunch, a Xiaomi spokesperson said that the company will skip this year’s event.

BlackBerry is expected to bring its next smartphone, the so-called Mercury, to Mobile World Congress next month. According to a tweet from BlackBerry Mobile, the handset should make its debut on February 25. While it has not specifically said so, BlackBerry’s phone would help kick off the annual MWC trade event. BlackBerry doesn’t manufacture its phones any longer;
Motorola teases a new phone to launch at MWC.
Motorola is set to launch a new phone in Barcelona next month prior to the start of Mobile World Congress.
The annual show has become a traditional venue for manufacturers to launch phones for the European market, but many of them end up in North America and beyond.

The GSMA group, which runs the annual Mobile World Congress trade show, is teaming up with CTIA to launch Mobile World Congress Americas. It will be held September 12-14, 2017 in San Francisco and will replace the CTIA Super Mobility show beginning that year. The 2016 show will still be held on September 7-9 in Las Vegas.
