Galaxy S10 sales strong in Q1 2019 as overall phone shipments decline

Samsung moved 2 million units of the Galaxy S10 series in North America.

Smartphone sales down 18% in Q1 2019 in North America. Samsung shipped 2 million units of both the Galaxy S10e and Galaxy S10+ in Q1. The iPhone XR, Galaxy S10e, and Galaxy S10+ make up 25% of the phone shipments in North America in the first quarter.

Smartphone shipments suffer fifth consecutive quarter of decline

Don’t look now but smartphones sales are in a tumble. Okay, you can look, but it’s not really all that pretty. The latest numbers out of research firm International Data Corporation (IDC) indicate that 375.4 million devices shipped to customers during Q4 2018, representing a decline of 4.9 percent when compared to the year before.

LG’s mobile unit sees a sales decline in Q2 2017 as demand for the G6 wanes

LG’s overall profit margins take a hit as mobile unit posts a $ 117 million loss.

LG’s mobile unit recorded a strong 10% increase in sales in Q1 2017, but the resurgence was short-lived. In its second quarter earnings, LG noted that its mobile unit recorded a loss of $ 117 million (132.4 billion won) on revenues of $ 2.39 billion (2.70 trillion won).

Samsung posts record profits in Q1 2017 even as phone sales decline

Increased sales in the semiconductor business lead to Samsung’s second-most profitable quarter.

Samsung has published its earnings results for the quarter ending in March 2017, and as it forecast a few weeks ago, Q1 2017 was very profitable for the company. Operating profit saw a massive year-on-year increase of 48% to $ 8.8 billion (9.9 trillion won), leading to Samsung’s second-most profitable quarter ever and best-ever first quarter.

HTC’s revenues decline by a massive 64% in Q1 2016

HTC‘s latest earnings figures continue to illustrate the manufacturer’s downfall in recent years. The Taiwanese vendor posted an overall revenue of NT$ 14.8 billion ($ 463 million), a drastic 64% decrease from the NT$ 41.52 billion ($ 1.3 billion) it managed in Q1 2015. Operating loss for the quarter was at NT$ 4.8 billion ($ 150 million), a far cry from the NT$ 360 million ($ 11.6 million) profit recorded during the same period last year.

Sony records huge net profit in 2015 even as mobile sales decline

Sony has announced its earnings for the financial year 2015, and the vendor has recorded its largest increase in profit since 2007. Net profit increased by 666.7% to ¥304.5 billion ($ 2.7 billion), and operating profit shot up 329% to ¥294.2 billion ($ 2.6 billion). Sony posts overall profit of $780 million, mobile sales decline 16 percent

Sony’s restructuring efforts — centered around its image sensors and console divisions — are paying off, with the manufacturer announcing a $ 780 million operating profit for the quarter ending in July. The vendor posted an overall revenue of $ 14.5 billion, a slight decrease of 0.1 percent from the same period a year ago.

Google’s Q1 2015 ‘other’ revenues segment impacted by ‘decline in Nexus’

Speaking in the Google Q1 2015 earnings call, CFO Patrick Pichette indicated Nexus revenues declined this quarter.

Revenues from the Play Store (and now Google Store) are such a small portion of Google’s business that they’re clumped into an “other revenues” category each quarter, but that doesn’t stop the company from reporting how they impact the bottom line. Samsung closes flagship store in London amid sales decline

Samsung has shut down its flagship Experience Store in London’s Westfield Stratford shopping center. One of ten such retail locations around the country, the store was located in a prominent section of the mall and was often the first retail outlet to commence sales of devices like the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S5.

Samsung warns of steep decline in profits in Q3 F2014 guidance

The world’s largest phone-maker has issued its guidance for the third quarter of the 2014 fiscal year and warns that there may be a steep drop in profits from a year ago and from the previous quarter. With the guidance, this would be the fourth consecutive quarter that Samsung‘s profits are slumping. Operating profit could drop by as much as 60 percent.
