Fitbit OS 2.0 rolling out to Fitbit Ionic with new gestures, Deezer, and more

Quick Replies are coming later in the spring.

The Fitbit Versa is Fitbit’s latest smartwatch, and with it comes an upgraded version of Fitbit OS that debuted on the Ionic last October. Now, Fitbit’s updating the Ionic with the Versa’s improved software.

Officially titled as Fitbit OS 2.0, the update is rolling out now to 10% of Ionic owners. Fitbit calls this a “progressive rollout,” and all Ionic users should have the update within the coming weeks.

Deezer gains support for Amazon Alexa voice controls

Available now across 66 countries.

As if you didn’t have enough music streaming options to choose from on your Alexa-powered speaker, yet another one is joining the mix as Alexa finally offers full support for Deezer.

Deezer is now available for everyone in the U.S.

Music streaming service Deezer is now widely available in the U.S., meaning that anyone can now sign up for the service. The Spotify and Google Play Music competitor was previously only available in the U.S. to those who signed up from Bose or Sonos, along with Cricket Wireless customers.

Honor to begin preloading Deezer on upcoming phones

Deezer has announced a new partnership with Honor, the sub-brand of Huawei, that will preload the app on all upcoming smartphones. Deezer prepares to battle competitors by adding podcasts and radio shows

Deezer is adding podcasts to its streaming solution, bolstering features available to subscribers by offering not only on-demand music, but also programs for download.

Cricket Wireless customers can access the Deezer music service starting Jan. 31

AT&T’s no contract subsidiary Cricket Wireless will begin offering the Deezer streaming music service to its wireless phone customers starting on January 31. It will be the first time that Deezer will be available to US mobile phone users.

Deezer acquires Stitcher, adding talk radio and podcasts to its collection

Cross-platform music streaming and discovery service Deezer has purchased Stitcher. The company plans to aid efforts worldwide and break into the US by acquiring the podcast and talk radio service to provide more content on its own platform.

Stream audiophile grade music with Deezer Elite, now available on Sonos

Deezer is marking its US debut by announcing a premium streaming service in the country called Deezer Elite, which will work exclusively on Sonos systems. Through the service, you’ll be able to stream over 30 million songs from Deezer’s catalog in the lossless FLAC format with a quality of 16-bit/44.1kHz (or around 1,411 kbps), which is is a significant improvement over what other streaming music services like Spotify offer at 320 kbps.

Shazam takes away Spotify support in certain countries, in favor of Deezer

Shazam released an update the other week on both iOS and Android, introducing Deezer support for finding songs tagged while out and about. What wasn’t made clear was that Shazam would in fact be pulling Spotify support, which is also a popular destination for locating, purchasing and enjoying content. Counties affected include the UK, Germany, Mexico and Brazil.
