Despite recent setbacks, Huawei isn’t exiting the U.S. market

Huawei CEO says the company will continue to do business in the U.S.

Huawei hasn’t had the easiest time of late in the U.S. The Chinese manufacturer lost carrier support back in February as both AT&T and Verizon pulled out of deals to carry the Mate 10 Pro following political pressure from the U.S. government. Last week, Best Buy announced that it would stop selling Huawei phones, laptops, tablets, smartwatches, and Honor products as well.

I enjoy the Galaxy S9+ despite its software, not because of it — and that’s a problem for Samsung

Samsung needs a true re-thinking of its software strategy.

I’ve been using a Galaxy S9+ since the end of February, going through a full review process and lengthy set of comparisons to really put it through its paces. A month in, I’m still using it every day. I continue to use the phone because I like it overall, not because of some work obligation. The hardware is good (though it benefits from a case), the performance has been solid,  [Read More…]

2 billion people use Facebook every month, despite its consistently subpar Android app

Facebook has reached a new milestone.

2 billion people now use Facebook every month, which is an incredible feat for a single platform to reach. On average, 800 million people “like” something on Facebook every single day. Surprisingly, over 1 billion people are using Facebook Groups every month. Those are just absolutely bonkers numbers to think about.

From the perspective of those who use Facebook on Android to be part  [Read More…]

Revenue in the mobile division declined 25% between Q4 2015 and the same period last year, with LG calling the situation “challenging.” The G5 was mainly to blame, though there was some slowdown in the entire category for the Korean giant, which  [Read More…]

Despite its marketing message, T-Mobile is once again just another big carrier

Some of us have seen through the T-Mobile hype. Others need to catch up.

As we near the CES show in Las Vegas the first week of January, T-Mobile is hyping up yet another “Un-carrier” event. Unlike previous iterations we’re now done with sequentially numbering these Un-carrier releases (I think we’d be at 13 now?), and instead it’s being marketed as “Un-carrier Next.” Truth be told the iterations of Un-carrier releases really started to lose meaning  [Read More…]

HTC maintains profitability in Q3 despite falling revenue

HTC has announced its unaudited financial results for the third quarter of 2014, revealing that the company stayed in the black in Q3 after its return to profitability in Q2.
