Huawei announces the Mate 20 X — a phone with a 7.2-inch OLED display

The phone’s launching October 26 for €899.

Huawei held an event in London today to announce its new Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro smartphones. We were fully expecting these handsets to be unveiled, but along with them, Huawei gave us a good surprise by announcing the Mate 20 X, too.

Google’s Home Hub smart display spotlights another Microsoft failure

Google’s Home Hub joins Amazon’s Echo Show in an ambient-computing, smart-display space in which Microsoft is conspicuously absent.

Amazon pioneered the progression of voice-controlled ambient computing with its Alexa-powered smart speakers. The Google Assistant-powered Google Home and Apple’s Siri-powered HomePod eventually followed. In 2017, Amazon upped the ante with its Amazon Echo Show smart display. The Echo Show brought the ability to display interactive content to the smart speaker battle.

Nokia 7.1 announced with HDR notched display, Android 8.1 Oreo

As anticipated, Nokia today took the stage in London to unveil its latest star in the budget lineup. The phone is called the Nokia 7.1. Or the all-new Nokia 7, as some of the company’s officials have referred to it during the presentation.
