How secure is the face recognition on the Galaxy S10?

Best answer: With the Galaxy S10 series, Samsung has switched to a standard facial recognition system that’s less secure than a PIN or fingerprint. That means your phone can be unlocked with a photo or video that resembles your likeness.

Lenovo Smart Display review: Google Assistant’s best face

I’ve always wanted one of those digital photo frames, the kind you see in parents’ living rooms, cycling between photos of grandkids a couple years out of date. Like Bluetooth speakers, digital photo frames are largely dumb and passive — they wait until you give them something to show, or play, and once that sequence is over, they either just shut off or repeat what’s already there.

When the Amazon Echo arrived up in 2014, we  [Read More…]

Google might face a $2.82 billion fine for pushing its services on Android

The European Commission is behind this.

When you get a new Android phone, you probably don’t think too much about the Google Search widget on your home screen, Chrome being set as the default browser, or all of Google’s big apps pre-installed out of the box. According to a report this week from The Wall Street Journal, it’s expected  [Read More…]

Honor 7A + 7C bring face unlock to the sub-£170 price point

New budget phones pack premium features.

When you’re selling a phone for less than £200, you need to be very careful about which corners you cut. This price point is rife with devices that choose the wrong compromises, and it’s this which Huawei’s Honor brand is set to counter with its new Honor 7A and 7C phones, selling for £139.99 and £169.99 respectively.

Both devices borrow heavily from the design language of the Honor 8 Pro and  [Read More…]

The right fit. The right quality. The right price. This is going to be a hit.

Great standalone VR experiences are quickly defined by how comfortable the headset is, the volume and quality of available games, and the price of the headset. Oculus has been working hard to make sure its upcoming Go headset ticks all of these boxes, and at GDC 2018 the Oculus booth puts this headset front and center to demonstrate how successful that  [Read More…]
