Chronicle is joining the Alphabet family alongside the likes of Google, Nest, and Waymo.

Google, Nest, and Waymo are some of the biggest names that live under the Alphabet conglomerate that was launched back in 2015, and on January 24, Chronicle became the latest to join it. Android founder and ex-Googler Andy Rubin has joined venture capital firm Redpoint, the company revealed today.

The announcement comes on the same day that Rubin’s startup incubator, Playground, disclosed that it had raised $ 48 million in funding from a number of investors, including Redpoint.

Yahoo scoops up mobile analytics firm Flurry to strengthen their mobile products

Yahoo has been on a mission to strengthen their mobile products for a while now and to push that envelope even further, the company has now announced they’ll be acquiring mobile analytics firm Flurry after having reached a definitive agreement. Google buying satellite firm Skybox Imagery for $500 million

Google is buying the satellite imagery company Skybox Imagery for half a billion dollars. Google has used imagery from Landsat satellites for much of their mapping images, though in recent years they’ve been replacing that with detailed orbital shots from a variety of sources. Adding a satellite imaging company to their portfolio will enable Google to more quickly and accurately update their satellite maps.
