Samsung and Google to update Galaxy Nexus with fix for volume bug

Android Central

There’s been quite the hoopla over the past few days around the Galaxy Nexus volume bug — that’s the nasty little issue which results in the phone’s volume levels going crazy when it’s on a 900MHz 2G/EDGE network, or when it’s exposed to RF interference from another phone that is.

We reached out to Samsung for comment on the glitch, and they’ve responded today with the confirmation that a fix is indeed  [Read More…]

Galaxy Nexus mod allows you to customize navigation bar

After the first public display of Ice Cream Sandwich, concerns were raised as to how navigation would work among legacy software. For example, there isn’t always a menu button displayed in the software navigation bar, and some applications don’t have an in-app menu key. It was announced that a menu key will pop up when necessary, but some people have become so accustomed to using the ever present menu key, that  [Read More…]

Fixes in hand, Samsung begins pushing Galaxy Tab 10.1’s Android 3.2 update again

Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

Samsung’s just let us know that the Android 3.2 update for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 has begun to push out again. You’ll recall how a couple weeks ago the initial update led to Wifi connectivity problems for some, and the update was pulled. That bug has been squashed, and the update’s good to go again.

If you skipped the update the first time around, you can download it over the  [Read More…]

T-Mobile launching snow white Galaxy S II for holidays

Samsung and T-Mobile have announced that they will be releasing a “sleek snow white” version of the popular Galaxy S II superphone in time for the holiday season. They did not announce retail availability or price points for the white Galaxy S II, though we expect the phone will be available in T-Mobile stores and may very well make its way to Best Buy, which has a history of selling alternatively-colored  [Read More…]

White T-Mobile Galaxy S II seen in product video

Youtube link for mobile viewing

I know some of you guys and gals (like myself) are suckers for white electronics.  If that sounds like you, and you’re a T-Mobile customer, you probably already heard the Galaxy S II was coming in white for the holidays.  We still don’t know when, or how much, but at least we get to see T-Mobile product managers playing with one.  Now how about a white Galaxy Nexus?  Hmm.

T-Mobile’s Samsung Galaxy S II in white for the holidays

T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II

Samsung’s being a bit shy with the details, but the T-Mobile version of the Galaxy S II will be available in white for the holidays. That’s the same 4.5-inch device we’ve come to know and love — be sure to read our full review — only in white. We can’t imagine it’ll cost any more than the black version, but we’ll let you know more on that when we  [Read More…]

Indirect Verizon retailers free to order the … Galaxy Nexus

Read our Galaxy Nexus Review!

Galaxy Nexus

Pardon us a minute while we read way too much into something. The screen you see here is what indirect Verizon retailers — as in not a corporate-branded store — now see to order their own Samsung Galaxy Nexus stock. And note that it says Samsung Galaxy Nexus, not Samsung Nexus Prime, which reappeared on a Best Buy flyer first posted in our Galaxy Nexus forums last  [Read More…]

Samsung Galaxy Nexus review (international version)

Our GSM Galaxy Nexus review finds a great platform for the next version of Android — Ice Cream Sandwich

Android Central

The past year, like the year before it, has been huge for Android. We’ve seen headlines boasting increasingly ridiculous daily activation numbers and market-share figures, not to mention the platform’s (slightly bumpy) foray into the tablet space. It’s no exaggeration to say that new Android smartphones are arriving on an almost a  [Read More…]

Samsung Galaxy Nexus gets ‘opened’

It’s not “rooting,” it’s openness

— Nick Kralevich, Android security engineer

There’s a bit of brouhaha on the Internet today about the Samsung Galaxy Nexus being “rooted.”  While I applaud the gentlemen who take the time to build binaries needed to flash the superuser/switchuser files to the GNexus, I think it’s more important to re-visit something from the past.  Namely, you don’t need to exploit a Nexus device to root it.  The  [Read More…]
