This weekend Hurricane Irene blew the Galaxy S II unveiling in New York back to Tuesday. According to recent reports, Verizon will not be launching the Samsung Galaxy S II here in the US market. While that news is certainly disappointing, it looks like Verizon may have chosen to skip the SGSII for something even better. New details indicate that Verizon and Samsung are prepping an LTE variant of the Galaxy S II with a larger 4.5-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, NFC, WiFi,  [Read More…]

 US-branded Samsung Galaxy S II

As if the anticipation hadn’t already reached fever-pitch for these oft-teased phones, it looks like we’ve finally gotten conclusive looks at each of the U.S. Samsung Galaxy S II variants.

Aside from the clickable button that’s on the international version, it looks like the only physical differences between the US Galaxy S II’s is the degree of roundness on the corners, with T-Mobile being crowned the roundest.

Just a quick heads up that Samsung has pushed its U.S. Galaxy S II event to Tuesday evening. Originally scheduled for Monday, Hurricane Irene’s little jaunt up the coast made the move necessary (and thanks to Samsung for doing so).

Samsung’s Unpacked App Reveals Tab 7.7 and Galaxy Note

Samsung has unwittingly revealed 3 new devices that it plans to announce at IFA next week. These were discovered when one Android fan went poking around the APK of Samsung’s Unpacked app and found logos of the new devices. The new devices are the Galaxy Note, Galaxy Tab 7.7 and the Wave 3, but we’re not particularly interested in the latter as it will run Bada OS. The  [Read More…]

Verizon won’t have a Galaxy S II variant, WSJ says, citing anonymous sources

Samsung event

The Wall Street Journal — citing the ever-popular “people familiar with the plans” — is reporting that Verizon won’t be introducing a variant of the Samsung Galaxy S II at next week’s event in New York City. That might or might not be an interesting shift from what everybody’s suspected — that just like the original Galaxy S roll-out last year, we’ll see variants on all four major U.S. carriers.

Verizon spokewoman Brendra Raney apparently  [Read More…]

Apple Gets Samsung Galaxy Tab Blocked in Most of the European Union

In what can only be regarded as a major victory for Apple on the world stage, German news agency DPA is reporting that Apple has been granted a preliminary injunction against Samsung’s Android-based Galaxy Tab 10.1. As a result, the tablet is effectively barred from distribution across all of the European Union, sans the Netherlands (for now, at least).

In light of Apple’s allegations that the Galaxy Tab is a blatant iPad rip-off that subsequently  [Read More…]
