What we’re hoping to see from Android P at Google I/O

Google I/O 2018 will officially begin tomorrow, May 8.

This yearly developer conference is home to a heap of announcements regarding a variety of Google’s products/services, but one of the main talking points during the opening keynote is always Android.

Android P is this year’s big update for the platform, and while we were first introduced to it in March, we’re anticipating Google to elaborate on what we already know and announce even more goodies that haven’t been  [Read More…]

What are you hoping to see in the Google Pixel 3?

Google’s next big thing.

Google mostly knocked it out of the park with its Pixel 2 series, but large bezels on the small Pixel 2 and a lackluster screen on the Pixel 2 XL kept them back from true greatness for some buyers.

We’re anticipating Google to unveil its Pixel 3 lineup later this fall, and while the rumor mill is still fairly quiet regarding the phone, that hasn’t stopped some of our forum users from talking  [Read More…]

Google Home hoping to improve the kitchen with ‘start cooking’ command

We could all use an extra kitchen helper.

Google Home already had independent cooking and recipe integrations available, but is now trying to roll things up into a single place with the launch of a “start cooking” command. You simply pick a recipe from several sources on your phone via Google Assistant, select “Send to Google Home” and it’ll be waiting there whenever you are ready to start cooking.

Once you’re at home and good to  [Read More…]

Lenovo hoping to spur Moto Mod development with new investment, partnerships

Several months removed from the launch of the Moto Z, Lenovo is still courting developers to make Moto Mods

Even though the initial wonderment of the modular Moto Z family has worn off, Lenovo isn’t slowing down its thoughts on getting the next generation of Moto Mods out there into the world — and it doesn’t want to make them itself, it wants independent companies to. This all started with the launch of the Moto Mods Developer Kit (MDK),  [Read More…]

Xperia X Ultra: After a disappointing start to 2016, I’m hoping for the best Sony phone in years

Sony’s Xperia X phones have been boring, overpriced and underwhelming. But there’s reason for cautious optimism.

Sony, and before it Sony Ericsson, has been part of the Android ecosystem almost since the very beginning. Along the way, despite tumultuous conditions elsewhere in the company and a hit-and-miss biannual release cycle, Sony has managed to turn out some genuinely great handsets. The Xperia Z3 stands out as the zenith of that series — the last Sony phone  [Read More…]

Here’s hoping Google Home has some personality

Will Google Home (and Assistant) be more than just a thing you talk at?

We’re in the very early stages of Google Assistant and Google Home. Just hours, really, after they both were announced at the annual Google I/O developer conference, held this week at Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, next door to Google’s campus.

Assistant is the next major iteration of Google’s search platform, going beyond just returning results, going to the next level above  [Read More…]

What we’re hoping to see at Google I/O 2016

It’s good to set expectations before a show, but it’s also okay to dream a little bit.

Google I/O is nearly here. Just days away. And while it’s important to remember that I/O is, first and foremost, a developer event, those of us who don’t code for a living have a few thoughts on what we’d like to see come out of this year’s conference.

There’s a lot to cover in  [Read More…]

DVF | Made for Glass collection is hoping to make Glass a bit more stylish

Update: The Google+ post has disappeared some half hour after going live, indicating that maybe someone pulled the trigger a little early, so we’ll keep an eye out for when it comes back up again.

Original story: Building on the fresh designs of the Titanium Collection, Google is announcing the “DVF | Made for Glass” eyewear collection to provide new frame styles for Glass. DVF, if you’re not familiar, is iconic fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg  [Read More…]
