Essential Phone reportedly coming to the UK, Europe and Japan

EE among carriers in discussion with Android founder’s company over exclusivity deal.

Andy Rubin’s Essential Phone is looking to spread its reach beyond the United States, according to The Financial Times. The paper reports that Essential wants to bring its phone to the UK, mainland Europe and Japan, and that the company is already in talks with UK carriers including EE around an exclusivvity deal.

Pokémon Go launches in Japan with sponsored gyms

Pokémon Go has made its debut in Japan, and the game is seeing its first commercial tie-in. Over 3,000 McDonald’s outlets spread across the country have been turned into gyms, allowing players to battle and take control of the real-world locations for their teams.

Spotify heading to Indonesia; may debut in Japan and India

Spotify is all set to launch in Indonesia by the end of March, and it looks like the streaming service is set to continue its Asia expansion by debuting in Japan and India in the coming months.

According to TechCrunch, the music streaming service is looking to make its debut in the Japanese market shortly, with an exploratory interest in India.

Nintendo’s first smartphone app, Miitomo, will launch in Japan on March 17

Nintendo plans to launch its first smartphone app, Miitomo, on March 17 in Japan. The app was first announced several months ago and pre-registrations began in February.

The launch announcement in Japan was made via Twitter:

Pokemon Co-master to bring board game battles to Android in Japan

The Pokémon Company will soon release a new mobile game for Android called Pokémon Co-master. Taking the form of a strategy board game, Co-master offers both single-player battles against computer-controlled opponents, as well as online multiplayer matches.

Pokémon Co-master combines its strategy mechanics with the collection of virtual Pokémon figurines. As they move across the game board, Pokémon will battle with their unique powers when they encounter each other, just like in the standard Pokémon games.

Panasonic announces the Android-powered DMC-CM10 camera, headed to Japan

Panasonic is back again with another Android-powered camera, this time the DMC-CM10 which is destined for Japan. The design here may look rather familiar, as it is actually the same as Panasonic’s CM1, which was both a camera and a phone in one. This time around, however, Panasonic has not included a phone inside. This 20.1MP camera comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop pre-installed, giving you access to tons of apps in Google Play.

Samsung Pay gains support for T-Money and Cashbee transportation payment services in Japan

Samsung has announced that Samsung Pay will now work with T-Money and Cashbee transportation payment methods in Japan. The new service, which is called Samsung Pay Transportation Card Service, lets you use various transportation payment methods in one spot. All you’ll need to do to use the service is register the cards within the Samsung Pay application and then begin making payments for their trips.

LG’s Disney-themed smartphone launches in Japan

LG Electronics announced a Disney-themed smartphone in Japan on Monday. This high-end smartphone will be sold exclusively by Japan’s most popular mobile carrier, NTT DoCoMo. The LG smartphone has been dubbed the DM-01 and is the eighth Disney mobile device on the company’s lineup.
