Japan getting the LG Optimus LTE on NTT Docomo

LG Optimus LTE in Japan

LG tonight announced that its first 720p Android smarpthone — the LG Optimus LTE — is coming to Japan on NTT Docomo. That follows launches in Korea and (surprise, surprise) the United States, with the latter enjoying phone on AT&T as the Nitro HD. (Read our full review)

Until now, Sony’s PlayStation certification has been limited to the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play and Sony Tablet S, but that may be about to change. According to a recent annoncement by Sony Ericsson Japan, Japanese Xperia Arcs will soon be receiving PlayStation certification through an official software update, as will the Xperia Acro, the Arc’s Japan-only sibling.

Sony has officially unveiled the Walkman Z-series, a new line of personal media players running Android, powered by NVIDIA Tegra 2 chips. The 4.3-inch device was on show at IFA 2011 last week, albeit without the official name or branding. The Walkman Z sports a WVGA (800×480) display, 512MB of RAM and between 16 and 64GB of internal storage depending on your chosen model.

Sharp Launching Aquos 3D Android Handset in Japan

3D Android phones haven’t really taken off just yet. Even with HTC’s big marketing behind the Evo 3D, and the LG Optimus 3D, we haven’t seen much adoption right out of the gate.
