Moto G6 Play review: The budget battery king strikes again

The Moto G no longer sits in a vacuum, but the G6 Play is still a great option for just $ 200.

There’s no name more recognizable in the budget smartphone category than “Moto G.” Since its launch, the Moto G series has consistently been Motorola’s best-selling product line, taking people aback with great performance at a low price.

When Motorola launched the Moto G4 a couple of years ago, it segmented the series into three sub-brands;  [Read More…]

BlackBerry Key2 Review: Keyboard King

For years, BlackBerry was the best option for those in business. The physical keyboard and smart software made it a no-brainer for those who just needed to get the job done. But, as we all know, BlackBerry quickly began to fade. It stuck with its own operating system as Android and iOS dominated the landscape. A physical keyboard was no longer the draw that it once was.

BlackBerry was going the way of the dodo.

But, the Canadian company finally bottomed  [Read More…]

Honor View 10 Review: The budget flagship king?

If you’re looking for a premium smartphone in 2018, you have two choices.  You can walk into a carrier store and throw down $ 800+ on a name you know like Samsung, LG, or Apple. Or, you can save a bit of dough, go with someone you may not have heard of and reap the rewards.

Today, we’re talking about one of those less known phone companies, Huawei. Huawei is a Chinese company that produces some of the best phones  [Read More…]

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro review: King of the hill

With the Redmi Note 5 Pro, Xiaomi is solidifying its position at the top of India’s handset market.

Xiaomi can do no wrong in India. The manufacturer sold nearly 10 million units of the Redmi Note 4 in the country last year, and is looking to maintain that momentum with the Redmi Note 5 Pro.

Xiaomi built its entire business model on offering great value for money — and as the sales numbers indicate, the strategy has  [Read More…]

Honor 9 Lite review: Making a strong case to be the budget king

On balance, this is one of the finest budget phones around right now.

The quick take

Finally, a budget Honor phone that just about ticks every box. Previous offerings have usually been very good phones, but the omission of NFC, in particular, made them hard to recommend since it blocked off access to Google Pay.

The Honor 9 Lite isn’t exactly a trimmed down version of the Honor 9, with a tall aspect ratio display and four  [Read More…]

Android Oreo is now on 0.7% of devices, but Marshmallow is still king

Android Oreo is very slowly but surely climbing in usage.

Google releases the Android Distribution numbers once per month to let developers know which OS versions to target, and January’s numbers are now available. Not surprisingly, Marshmallow is still on top with 29.7% of the Android pie.

Oreo did make some gains, though. Android 8.1 is making its first appearance with 0.2% of the Android marketplace, while Android 8.0 stayed at the same 0.5% it was at  [Read More…]

Fender Newport: The king of guitars arrives into the Bluetooth speaker scene (Review)

I shouldn’t even introduce a brand like Fender. They are so famous and renowned throughout the world that there’s nothing I could say that you didn’t know already… Except for one thing: they are now making Bluetooth speakers. It’s like a match made in heaven: a brand that has dedicated its entire life to creating […]

Samsung Galaxy S8+ India review: King of the hill

The Galaxy S8+ is the best Android phone available today.

The quick take

The Galaxy S8+ offers everything you want — and a few things you didn’t know you needed — in a package that looks downright futuristic. Combining top-of-the-line hardware with a gorgeous design and an incredible display, Samsung ticks all the right boxes. The phone isn’t without its quirks, but when seen as a complete package, you won’t find a phone that offers quite as  [Read More…]

Amazon is dangerously close to being the new king of messaging

With Alexa gaining the ability to make voice calls and Echo Show bolstering the living room, Amazon moves a step closer to messaging ubiquity.

It was about three or four years ago when my wife and I decided to finally get rid of our landline. We weren’t really using it anymore — it was mostly an emergency backup, and a great way for solicitors to bug us. (That it occasionally made phantom 911 calls in the middle of the  [Read More…]

Nova Launcher review: King of the mountain after all these years

Nova Launcher is a legacy launcher that runs like a modern marvel.

Nova Launcher has been around for a long time. How long? Well, Nova Launcher Prime, Nova’s premium upgrade, was one of the first paid apps I ever bought back in 2012 during Google Play’s 25-cent sale. A lot has changed in that time, and while trends in Android have come and gone, Nova Launcher has stayed one of its best launchers.

Here’s how Nova Launcher  [Read More…]
