Travis Touch is a “universal translator” – but is it too late?

Of all the cool gadgets in Star Trek, one of the least-appreciated is the universal translator, which lets the crew of the Enterprise – or Voyager, or Discovery – talk to pretty much anyone through their communicators. So when I heard there was a real-world version called the Travis Touch, I jumped on it faster than you can say “open hailing frequencies.”

Travis Touch is a small Android-powered handheld that packs enough built-in intelligence to translate 105  [Read More…]

Michael Kors Grayson smartwatch review: Fashionably late to excellence

Michael Kors is back for round (Android Wear) 2.0.

For a time, it seemed like every phone manufacturer was hot on Android Wear, but those days are long behind us. While we still have big names like LG and Huawei building watches for the masses, it’s the fashion brands like Fossil, Tag Heuer, Movado — even Louis Vuitton — that have picked up the mantle. Oh, and Michael Kors, which is far more associated with high-end bags,  [Read More…]

It’s way too late to bring back Google Glass

The next step for Google feels like it should be obvious, but for some reason it’s not going to happen.

I was a Day One Google Glass user. In fact, my thoughts on Google Glass were the first thing I ever published here at Android Central. I complain every now and again about how the tech got a bad rap and Google shouldn’t have backed down on a consumer model, but today there’s a lot more to  [Read More…]

Korean outlet Naver pins the date down to August  [Read More…]

Here’s what Hawkeye will have.

ZTE will be bringing its crowdsourced Hawkeye smartphone to the U.S. and much of the world in September if it can hit its enormous $ 500,000 Kickstarter goal (as of writing, it’s raised just over $ 30,000). When ZTE revealed the eventual name of ‘Project CSX’, it gave us some ideas of how the phone would separate itself (eye-tracking technology), and what it would cost ($ 199), but we were without most of the  [Read More…]
