Google reportedly working to launch in-house developed phone later this year

With the Nexus program, Google partners with several companies in creating phones and tablets that deliver a “pure” Android experience. According to The Telegraph, it looks like Google is set to release its own phone developed internally with more control over the “design, manufacturing and software” that doesn’t involve a partnership with a well-known brand.

Huawei gearing up to launch EMUI 5.0 this Fall with a major redesign

Huawei’s EMUI received a significant boost with version 4.1, which made its debut on the Huawei P9. It looks like the vendor is working to bring the UI closer to stock Android, with version 5.0 said to offer an interface that resembles vanilla Android while offering a lot of customizability.

Mobile World Congress Americas to launch in the U.S. in September 2017

The GSMA group, which runs the annual Mobile World Congress trade show, is teaming up with CTIA to launch Mobile World Congress Americas. It will be held September 12-14, 2017 in San Francisco and will replace the CTIA Super Mobility show beginning that year. The 2016 show will still be held on September 7-9 in Las Vegas.

Honor decides it’s okay to launch a tablet with KitKat in 2016

At a media event in New Delhi, Honor rolled out the 5C, a budget phone with a metal-backed design and impressive hardware. The vendor also launched the T1 7.0, a 7-inch affordable tablet with a WSVGA resolution (1024 x 600), a 1.2GHz quad-core Spreadtrum SC7731G processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB internal memory, microSD slot, 3G, and a 4100mAh battery. The pièce de résistance? The T1 7.0 runs EMUI 3.0 out of the box, which is based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
