LeEco facing continued cash shortage amidst market expansion, business turbulence

Over-extending at a time of lowered sales and under-performing units is a bad combination.

LeEco’s troubles in 2017 have been numerous and well-documented, but it seems the issues with cash flow have continued and expanded as of late. Speaking this week, LeEco chairman Jia Yueting said the company’s cash issues are “far worse than expected” despite a massive $ 2.4 billion investment earlier this year.

LeEco is set to lay off over 85% of its U.S. workforce

LeEco is getting ready to lay off a majority of its U.S. workforce following exec reshuffle.

LeEco’s debut in the U.S. didn’t go according to plan, and it looks like the company is gearing up for a round of massive layoffs. Earlier this week, LeEco founder Jia Yueting announced he would step down as CEO of Leshi Internet Information & Technology Corp Beijing, the company’s publicly listed unit.

LeEco adds DirecTV Now app to its TVs, throws in 3 month subscription free

This is the first DirecTV Now app available directly on a smart TV.

LeEco has just started rolling out a software update to its 4K TVs that includes the DirecTV Now app, and it’s sweetening the deal by also offering three months of the subscription for free. The new software update brings the streaming service directly to LeEco’s range of TVs, including the X43 Pro, X55, X65 and the massive uMax85.

LeEco hits another snag in building its global empire, won’t acquire Vizio

This time, regulations have stopped it from acquiring the US’s biggest TV maker.

LeEco hasn’t had an easy time lately and things don’t seem to be perking up. Both LeEco and Vizio have announced that the merger agreement for the former to acquire the latter will not proceed.

LeEco reportedly didn’t have enough money to pay U.S. employees in March

Things aren’t looking so good for LeEco lately…

LeEco Inc. was forced to delay payroll for U.S. employees in March, according to Bloomberg Technology, which spoke to people familiar with the matter. This latest bit of bad news from the embattled Chinese technology conglomerate seems to further confirm that the company is struggling for cash.
