Committing to faster software updates is always a good move.

Ahead of the May 2 launch of the LG G7, the company has announced the opening of a new “Software Upgrade Center” at its headquarters in South Korea dedicated to improving the process of creating and releasing software updates for its smartphones. As the name would imply, the goal is pretty simple: “providing customers worldwide with faster, timelier, smartphone operating system and software updates.”

New leak suggests LG’s 2018 flagship will be called the LG G7 ThinQ

LG needs to reThinQ its product naming decisions.

LG’s 2018 flagship is slated to launch sometime this quarter, and if a new leak from Evan Blass is any indication, the phone will be called the LG G7 ThinQ. LG said earlier this year that it was ditching the G-series branding in favor of a new naming convention, but it doesn’t look like the name will change all that much after all.

For all intents and purposes, the LG G7 is dead. LG’s CEO reportedly scrapped the phone shortly after CES and ordered the mobile department to go back to the drawing board, and now that some time has passed, we’ve got new information about what we can expect from LG’s big 2018 flagship.

LG’s mobile unit sees a sales decline in Q2 2017 as demand for the G6 wanes

LG’s overall profit margins take a hit as mobile unit posts a $ 117 million loss.

LG’s mobile unit recorded a strong 10% increase in sales in Q1 2017, but the resurgence was short-lived. In its second quarter earnings, LG noted that its mobile unit recorded a loss of $ 117 million (132.4 billion won) on revenues of $ 2.39 billion (2.70 trillion won).
