Newton Mail dies for the second time following Essential closure

Servers will officially shut down on April 30, 2020.

What you need to know Andy Rubin’s Essential announced its plan to close shop earlier this week. Alongside the end of updates to the Essential Phone, this also means that the Newton Mail app will be shutting down. Existing users of the app will have until April 30, 2020 before they lose access.

Essential acquires CloudMagic, creator of Newton Mail

In a surprise move, Essential has acquired CloudMagic, the email startup that created Newton Mail. If you’re unfamiliar, Newton was a subscription-based premium email app that earned rave reviews from bloggers and email power users. But though the service attracted over 40,000 subscribers, CloudMagic shut down Newton in September of this year due to lack of profitability.

Newton Mail gets a fresh start under Essential.

Newton Mail was a popular third-party alternative to Gmail, and even though the service had over 40,000 paying customers, it was shut down back in December. Newton Mail will shut down in September

Newton will shut down in September after failing to find a viable business model.

Newton, a popular email app for Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS, has announced that it will soon shut down. Founder Rohit Nadhani said that CloudMagic, the company that owns Newton, couldn’t find a viable business model that provided profitability and growth, citing stiff competition from first-party email apps. Newton will end service in September.

OnePlus 5 & 5T updated for HD streaming playback, but you have to mail in your phone to get it

Users can mail in their OnePlus 5 or 5T to enable HD playback from Netflix and other providers.

Late last year, it was discovered that the OnePlus 5 and 5T can’t stream HD videos from Netflix, Amazon and other streaming services. Verizon to discontinue its paid Visual Voice Mail service on select phones

Verizon has announced that it will be discontinuing its paid Visual Voice Mail service on select phones as of July 8, 2016. The service, which previously cost $ 2.99, allowed customers to access their voicemails in a more visual manner. Those who are using the feature will be transitioned to Basic Voice Mail services, but you won’t lose any of your existing messages.
