Mastercard introduces a credit card with a built-in fingerprint reader

Mastercard’s latest credit card comes with a biometric zone that stores your fingerprints.

Mastercard has rolled out a credit card that has an integrated fingerprint scanner, making it easier to authenticate purchases at retail stores. The card stores two fingerprints, and features an embedded sensor that lets you authorize payments instead of having to sign or use a PIN.

MasterCard and BMO are bringing biometric verification to corporate cards

MasterCard has teamed up with the BMO Financial Group for the rollout of a biometric verification program for corporate credit cards, which will allow card holders in the U.S. and Canada to confirm online purchases with either their fingerprint or using facial recognition. Verification will take place through MasterCard’s Identity Check app, and the program will at first be limited to corporate cards issued to BMO employees in the U.S. and Canada.

MasterCard brings virtual reality, payments and wearables to the golf course

Just when you thought golf couldn’t get any more exciting, MasterCard has teamed up with this year’s Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill to showcase a new VR experience. MasterCard bringing ‘selfie’ authentication to North America and Europe this summer

At Mobile World Congress this week, MasterCard announced that it plans to roll out a new ‘selfie’-based authentication method for online purchases.

After successful tests of the service in the U.S. and UK, MasterCard says that it will offer the authentication option, which involves using a smartphone, tablet or PC app in conjunction with a front-facing camera to verify a person’s identity after entering credit card information, in 14 countries this summer.

Samsung teams up with MasterCard to launch Samsung Pay in Europe

Samsung is trialling its contactless payment service, Samsung Pay, in South Korea, and is set to launch the service Stateside with its next wave of flagship phones. The vendor announced today that it would be extending its partnership with MasterCard to bring Samsung Pay to Europe.
