Galaxy Note 8’s Secure Wi-Fi VPN now powered by McAfee

McAfee’s now in charge of Secure Wi-Fi’s backend.

Earlier this month, Samsung released a new app for the Galaxy Note 8 called “Secure Wi-Fi” that aimed to protect users when on public Wi-Fi networks from potential threats and attackers. This came as a result of the KRACK WPA2 Wi-Fi vulnerability that was discovered in October, and Samsung’s now upgrading its Secure Wi-Fi service thanks to a new collaboration with McAfee.

Samsung renews deal to use McAfee security software on Galaxy S8, smart TVs and PCs

Yes, people do still care about security apps on their phones.

Samsung and McAfee have announced that they have extended their collaboration to put McAfee’s security software across a wide range of Samsung’s devices, including the new Galaxy S8 and S8+, smart TVs and PCs. The deal brings the McAfee LiveSafe application to Samsung PCs with a 60-day free trial, McAfee Security anti-malware software on Samsung TVs and the McAfee VirusScan app on the Galaxy S8 and S8+.

McAfee: Android Malware Rapidly Grows 76% While iOS Is Unaffected

The security experts at McAfee have published details of a new study that found during the second quarter of 2011, Android-powered devices faced a staggering 76% increase in malware than that of the first quarter — while Apple’s iOS devices remained unaffected by malicious exploits.
