Motorola confirms Moto G and Moto E are here to stay

Earlier today we brought you news that according to Chen Xudong, Lenovo’s Mobile Chief, Lenovo would be getting rid of the Moto E and Moto G lines. Since purchasing Motorola, Lenovo has said they’re going to be paring down how many phones they’re going to be offering, but it was a bit odd that one on the chopping block would be Motorola’s most popular phone ever.

Lenovo is killing the Moto E and Moto G lines

It’s been a fast and furious week. Centering around CES 2016, we’ve seen a ton of information come from the Lenovo camp about the future of their mobile division. First off we heard that Lenovo would be shuttering the Motorola branding on the phones they produce from here on out, choosing only to use the Moto name. Republic Wireless begins Moto X 2013 Android 5.1 soak test

Republic Wireless is beginning to soak test the Android 5.1 update for the Moto X 2013. The carrier will be pushing the update to 5,000 devices to test the waters and see what issues may arise. Motorola enables bootloader unlocks for the Verizon Moto X (2014)

Goodbye Moto: Lenovo phases out Motorola brand

After decades of mobile phone ubiquity and iconic status, the Motorola brand will be coming to an end.

In an interview with CNET, Motorola Chief Operating Officer Rick Osterloh said that owner Lenovo, which bought Motorola Mobility from Google in 2014, will instead focus on offering premium devices under the ‘Moto by Lenovo’ brand name.

In addition, budget phones will be released as part of Lenovo’s existing Vibe range.

Lenovo to phase out Motorola brand for smartphones in favor of Moto and Vibe

Lenovo’s acquisition of Motorola from Google in 2014 will now result in the famous Motorola brand name disappearing from smartphones. Motorola Chief Operating Officer Rick Osterloh confirmed in an interview from CES 2016 that the Motorola brand will be phased out this year. Lenovo will instead use the Moto name for its high-end smartphones, and the Vibe brand for budget devices.
