This USB Type-C dock is my favorite accessory for the Nexus 6P (Product Review)

The next wave of cool phone accessories is coming. USB 3.1 and Type-C are opening a lot of doors to what phones can now do. Now we’re getting a lot of accessories that leverage these new features and we’re going to check one of those today, the Insignia 4-Port USC Type-C Hub.

Physically the hub is a black rectangle with an attached, non-removable USB Type-C cable on one end and four USB ports spread out on two of the three the sides.  [Read More…]

Your next phone needs to be a Nexus, and why that’s a problem for Android

Android 6.0 (more commonly referred as its more sugary name, Marshmallow) was announced back in May 2015 (as “Android M” at Google I/O). And as it typically goes, the new OS debuted in the real world with the launch of the Nexii this past Fall – the Nexus 5x and Nexus 6P.

HTC rumored to make two new Nexus devices

Aside from the Nexus 9 tablet, HTC has not been at the forefront of Nexus devices in quite some time. According to a new rumor that originated on Weibo, that could change in 2016. The leaker, who is considered “often-reliable,” claims that HTC will be responsible for manufacturing not one, but two Nexus devices this year.

If the rumor is true, HTC will supposedly launch 5-inch and 5.5-inch devices with the newest  [Read More…]

Three phones later, and I’m still thinking about the Nexus 6

Ah, the Nexus 6. She’s a beaut ain’t she?

The Nexus 6 even today has a large following, and I think that’s interesting. If we rewind back to the end of 2014 (and yes, I do think it’s funny that I’m reminiscing about a 2014 phone), we see a peculiar Nexus launch.

This was the most controversial launch for a Google device, and probably will continue to be. The unveiling  [Read More…]

Nexus 6P versus iPhone 6s Plus: the big-screen showdown

Choosing between the best from Google and Apple is a lot of fun this year.

Watching Google and Apple compete for our attention is interesting for a number of reasons, but the biggest one has to be how vastly different their approaches are to certain things. Smartphones have been a fascinating example of this over the past few years, especially to watch as Apple and Google slowly move toward one another from these opposing perspectives. This  [Read More…]

Nexus 5X gets permanent $30 price cut from Google, now starting at $349

If you’ve been looking for another deal on the Nexus 5X to become available, you’ll be happy to hear that Google has permanently cut the price of the phone by $ 30, dropping the starting price down to $ 349. Google has offered a number of deals on the Nexus 5X already, dropping the price by as much as $ 80 during some promotional periods, but this is not just another promotion. This is the new price  [Read More…]

Amazon offers up 32GB Nexus 6 for $250, 64GB for $300

If you’re looking for a good deal on the Nexus 6, Amazon is currently offering the device at a steep discount. For the 32GB version, you’re looking at a price of $ 250, while the 64GB Nexus 6 comes in at $ 300. While that’s not the cheapest we’ve seen on 2014’s flagship Nexus (Black Friday saw that price dip a further $ 50), it’s still a pretty darn good deal.

If you’re interested in picking up  [Read More…]

Nexus Imprint still hasn’t learned anything from me

Google’s got some ‘splaining to do.

A particularly stupid move on my part over the weekend left the tip of my right index finger sliced open. Not enough to need a trip to the hospital, but enough that I’m reminded of its existence every time my finger drifts across a rough surface. And the cut is just enough to get in the way of unlocking my Nexus 6P the way I typically unlock it, which means  [Read More…]

Check out these photos of the all new Nexus 6P in Matte Gold

At CES 2016 we were introduced to the Huawei made Google Nexus 6P in Matte Gold. It was shown to us in person at the Mandalay Bay on Jan. 5th where we got a sample unit to take home. I used the Nexus 6P for over six weeks before I gave a raving review of it in November. The version I was using was the 64GB in Graphite which was extremely durable and good looking.

Gold and premium metals seemed  [Read More…]
