Android 7.1.2 rolling out to some Pixel C and Nexus Player users

Android 7.1.2 brings the Pixel Launcher to the Pixel C and it’s apparently begun a wider rollout.

Along with the Nexus Player, people have reported to Android Police that they are seeing the update today to bring the two devices up to speed with the newest version of Android. There have been scattered reports of people getting the build on their tablet in the past days, but this seems to be less scattered and more focused.

Nexus 6 owners facing Android 7.1.1 to 7.0 downgrade

Downgrade required ‘to guarantee future OTA updates.’

The Android 7.1.1 Nougat update for the Nexus 6 hasn’t gone entirely smoothly so far, with the most recent March 2017 security patch breaking Android Pay on the device. And now in another bizarre development, Nexus 6 owners who updated to 7.1.1 are seeing an over-the-air update back to Android 7.0. Worse still, some are reporting that the downgrade back to 7.0 has caused issues with apps upon completion.

You can now install Samsung’s browser on Nexus + Pixel devices

Samsung is making its browser available on Google hardware.

In a bid to deliver faster updates, Samsung decoupled its browser from TouchWiz and started offering it on the Play Store since 2015. The browser was limited to Galaxy phones, but a beta version of Samsung Internet is now being listed on the Play Store with support for the Google Pixel and Nexus devices.

You can now get up to the latest software without waiting for an over-the-air update.

In keeping with its regular cadence of releasing full software builds for its latest devices, Google has updated its factory image page to include Android 7.1.1 builds with the March 2017 security patch for its latest phones and tablets.
