That’s all changing this holiday season as OnePlus has just announced that customers will be able to pick up the handset without an invite until December 25. OnePlus launched their ‘flagship killer’ of a device called the One earlier this year; ever since, their year has been full of ups and downs. They’ve had complaints about their customer service, faced criticism for their marketing ideas and invite system, had phones showing a yellowish hue on the One’s displays, and most recently ‘refurbishgate’. Cyanogen pledges continued OnePlus One support

Cyanogen took to its own blog to clarify some misinformation that it would be dropping support for the OnePlus One. After it was inaccurately reported that the OnePlus One won’t be getting future firmware updates through CyanogenMod, the company is stating that this is false and that Cyanogen will continue to push out firmware updates to all global devices.

OnePlus One makes its official debut in India for Rs. 21,999

OnePlus has launched the OnePlus One in the Indian market today in collaboration with Amazon India, who has exclusive rights to sell the device in the country. The 64GB Sandstone Black variant is priced at Rs. 21,999 ($ 355), and customers interested in purchasing the device can request an Indian-specific invite from OnePlus’ official forums. Both Amazon and OnePlus will be offering invites via their social media channels starting today.

OnePlus responds to Cyanogen’s exclusive partnership with Micromax

OnePlus has addressed its Indian users regarding the recent announcement that Cyanogen has made a deal with Indian handset manufacturer Micromax. The deal gives exclusive rights to Cyanogen’s software to Micromax in India, leaving out the OnePlus One, which is powered by Cyanogen. Naturally, OnePlus expressed disappointment in the deal.

OnePlus One launching in India on December 2, invites to be given out through contests

After Amazon India teased the imminent launch of the OnePlus One in the country over the weekend, we now have confirmation that the device will be available for purchase starting December 2. The OnePlus One will be available exclusively on Amazon, and will follow an invite-only system, at least initially. Users will be able to win invites by subscribing to the OnePlus newsletter and by taking part in contests hosted by OnePlus and Amazon.

OnePlus One Indian launch imminent, Amazon gets exclusive rights

Earlier this year, OnePlus chairman Carl Pei announced that the vendor was looking to launch the OnePlus One in India in December, with country-specific invites available to consumers interested in buying the device. A teaser posted on Amazon India today indicates that the retailer will have exclusive rights to sell the handset in the country. While Amazon did not mention the device by name, the teaser corresponds to the Sandstone Black version of the OnePlus One.
