Samsung opening new ‘Connected Customer Care Center’ in South Carolina with 400 employees

Pokémon Go developer Niantic is opening up its AR development platform

Niantic’s technology is called the Real World Platform.

Niantic, the development team behind Pokémon Go, announced today that it’ll now allow third-party developers to use its AR technology that powers not only Pokémon Go, but Ingress and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, too.

Niantic’s AR tech is called “Real World Platform”, and it uses a combo of computer vision, object recognition, and depth detection to create for those augmented reality experiences we’ve become so fond of.

Oculus launches Chromecast support for Gear VR, opening new viewing possibilities

The VR fun doesn’t have to be limited to just the person wearing the headset.

Oculus has announced a nice update that brings Google Cast functionality to Gear VR — meaning you can let anyone see what you’re seeing inside your headset on a big screen. All you need is the latest version of the Oculus mobile app and either a Chromecast, Android TV or Cast-ready TV, and you’ll be able to share right away.

Galaxy S8 release could land as late as April 28, opening door for LG G6 sales

Timing is everything in the high-end smartphone world.

We now have a set-in-stone announce date of March 29 for the Galaxy S8, but the actual release date for the phone hitting retailers is still in flux. A report from VentureBeat claims Samsung may wait just shy of a full month after announcement to release the Galaxy S8 on April 29.
