Android Pay support added to Lyft, OpenTable, and more; expanding to Australia in 2016

Google’s recently launched Android Pay service can now be used to pay for items and services from within a number of popular Android apps. The company also revealed its expansion plans for Android Pay, starting with Australia in the first half of 2016.

Pay with OpenTable Now Available for Android

OpenTable is a utility whereby participating restaurants allow bookings to be made using the companion app, and now it has come to Android and more than 32,000 restaurants with it.

Simply add a credit card in the OpenTable Android app and not only can you book a table at a restaurant but can also pay your bill.

Priceline tapping into restaurant bookings with $2.6 billion acquisition of OpenTable

The Internet travel booking company Priceline announced today it will acquire the online restaurant reservation service OpenTable for $ 103 a share. The all-cash deal will cost Priceline a total of $ 2.6 billion.

Foursquare, OpenTable and TripIt Glassware added to MyGlass

Google is adding even more travel-focused Glassware to Google Glass, today making Foursquare, OpenTable and TripIt apps available. We’re all likely aware of these three apps, and while it isn’t instantly clear how each one will fit into people’s lives — particularly OpenTable — on something like Glass, it’s great to see Google courting major developers to make apps for Glass.
