Sprint dials up rugged Cat S48c phone for $20 per month

Sprint and Cat today announced the S48c, a smartphone with military-grade toughness. Designed to handle shock, moisture, drops, dust, altitude, and extreme temperatures, it features a programmable push-to-talk (PTT) button and is compatible with Sprint’s Direct Connect service.

Cat says its phone is intrinsically safe, meaning it can be used in hazardous conditions and environments with flammable vapors. This is a first for the handset maker, and puts the device in a market space of its own.

OnePlus plans on launching the first 5G phone in Europe in 2019

The 5G phone will exist alongside OnePlus’s other LTE handsets.

OnePlus just announced the OnePlus 6T earlier this morning, but even so, the company’s already hard at work on its successor. In an interview with The Verge, CEO Pete Lau confirmed that it plans on launching a 5G-capable phone in Europe as early as next year.
