RCA debuts Q2 unlocked phone for GSM carriers

RCA, yes that brand, has begun selling a new unlocked smartphone which can be paired with AT&T, T-Mobile, and other GSM networks. The 4G Q2 arrives as the company celebrates its 100th anniversary.

Powered by the latest official version of Android, 9 Pie, the Q2 features a 5-inch display and an 8-megapixel rear camera. The phone, which is sold in black and white options, houses 16GB storage with a microSD expansion card slot for up to 32GB external media.

Galaxy S10 sales strong in Q1 2019 as overall phone shipments decline

Samsung moved 2 million units of the Galaxy S10 series in North America.

Smartphone sales down 18% in Q1 2019 in North America. Samsung shipped 2 million units of both the Galaxy S10e and Galaxy S10+ in Q1. The iPhone XR, Galaxy S10e, and Galaxy S10+ make up 25% of the phone shipments in North America in the first quarter.

Moto expands walk-in repair services with CPR: Cell Phone Repair

Late last year Motorola announced that the company would start offering customers the option to use popular iFixit stores for on the spot repairs for Moto phones outside the factory warranty. The V50, LG’s first 5G phone, is launching in South Korea on May 10

It’ll set you back a hefty $ 1,035 USD.

After some delays, LG is set to launch its first 5G phone, the LG V50, on May 10 in its home country of South Korea. The V50 will be available on three domestic carriers and is priced at 1,199,000 won or about $ 1,035 USD. That makes it 200,000 won (or $ 173 USD) cheaper than the Galaxy S10 5G.

Phone sales declined in 2019, though Huawei increased sales by 50%

Premium smartphone sales are struggling across the board.

The numbers for smartphone sales are out for Q1 of 2019, and they show that everyone is struggling. Well, everyone but Huawei. According to IDC, phone sales declined for the sixth straight quarter with shipments totaling 310.8 million units marking a 6.6% drop year over year.
