Reported Samsung restructuring could better integrate homes, phones

Samsung Electronics reportedly is looking at a major re-organization after slumping sales at its smartphone division, according to the Wall Street Journal. With the change in management, one scenario could have co-CEO B.K. Yoon of Samsung’s home appliance and television business take the reins of mobile from J.K. Shin, long the worldwide face of Samsung’s smartphone business.

Android One phones reportedly not welcome at many Indian retailers

A recent report claims that many brick-and-mortar retailers in India have refused to sell the three current Android One smartphones, because Google and its hardware partners decided back in September to give online sales a head start.

Google removes silent mode from phones with Lollipop

Android 5.0 Lollipop brings a lot of new features and a whole new look with the material design makeover, but it seems that the update also removes the ability to put the phone on silent.

Previously in KitKat, lowering the volume all the way down moved the phone into vibrate mode then into silent, but now lowering the volume only offers vibrate mode.

It’s Halloween tonight — let’s put down the phones and concentrate on driving

Sandra Bullock’s ‘Gravity’ floats onto some folks’ phones for free

If you’ve been always meaning to watch the Oscar-winning “Gravity” but just never got around to it — or if you just weren’t in a rush to spend money on wonky acts of physics — now might be your chance to catch the otherwise spectacular space flick for free. A number of folks this weekend are seeing “Gravity” appear in their Google Play Movies “Watch Now” queue for free, with Google saying “This one’s on us.”
