The seemingly never-ending saga of Broadcom‘s attempted takeover of Qualcomm has all-but-ended, as President Trump today issued an order that the deal will not be allowed to go through under the assertion that it would be a threat to U.S. national security. Where does HTC go from here?

HTC’s been struggling to find a strong foothold in the smartphone space for quite some time now, and matters aren’t going to be helped in this regard following the announcement that HTC’s President of Smartphone and Connected Devices Business, Chialin Chang, has resigned.

There were seemingly endless rumors throughout 2017 about T-Mobile and Sprint finally following through with a merger that’d been talked about for years, but in early November, these were finally laid to rest. Samsung Mobile president confirms Galaxy S8 selling better than GS7

The Galaxy S8 is selling well, which is not surprising considering it’s one of the best phones out there right now.

The Galaxy S8 is selling really well, and better than its predecessor, despite rumors to the contrary. The rumors of low sales became so pervasive, in fact, that Samsung’s newly appointed president of mobile, Dongjin Koh, addressed it at a media conference in Taiwan last week.

Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain promoted to vice president

Xiaomi India head receives a well-deserved promotion.

Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain, who joined the Chinese manufacturer in May 2014, has been promoted to vice president. Jain will continue to oversee the company’s Indian operations in his role as managing director. Under Jain’s leadership, Xiaomi hit several milestones, with the company now claiming 30% of the online handset market. The Indian business also crossed $ 1 billion in revenue last year.

President Obama says Google will help expand Internet access in Cuba

Google will be helping the country of Cuba connect to the Internet. In an interview, President Barack Obama stated Google plans to announce it will help expand broadband and Wi-Fi access to the Internet in that country.

ABC News anchor David Muir chatted with Obama as part of his historic visit to Cuba, and asked him about that subject, stating that just 5% of Cuban homes have Internet access. Obama replied:

HTC America President Jason Mackenzie promoted to global Executive Vice President

HTC has promoted Jason Mackenzie, President of HTC America, to the position of global Executive Vice President. André Lönne will take over as President of HTC America.
