The Redmi 2 Prime is Xiaomi’s first locally manufactured phone in India

At an event in Visakhapatnam, Xiaomi launched its first handset manufactured locally in the country, the Redmi 2 Prime. The Chinese manufacturer stated last year that it was looking to set up a facility in India, and with the government looking to boost manufacturing through the “Make in India” program, Xiaomi was able to get a deal fast-tracked.

T-Mobile introduces Advanced Messaging, starting with Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime

T-Mobile is introducing a new mobile chat feature called Advanced Messaging with the previously announced launch of the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime smartphone. Based on a standard called Rich Communications Services (RCS), Advanced Messaging has a number of chat improvements for smartphones.

Amazon Prime may launch in India later this year

Amazon is looking to significantly increase its presence in India. Citing “two people directly familiar with the company’s decision,” ET Tech reports that Amazon will bring its Prime service to India later this year. In addition to launching its subscription-based video and music service, Amazon is apparently readying a $ 5 billion war chest to take on rival e-commerce stores Flipkart, Snapdeal and PayTM.
