UK retailer withdraws Transformer Prime, blames ‘faults’ and stock availability

British retailer Clove Technology has taken the ASUS Transformer Prime off sale today, saying “faults” reported by customers and difficulty in obtaining stock are behind the decision.

In a post on its official blog, Clove says stock levels have been a “real issue”, and despite being able to obtain some Transformer Prime units earlier than expected, it’s decided to withdraw the tablet from sale due to complaints of faults in some units.

GTA III updated, now compatible with Transformer Prime

The launch of Grand Theft Auto III on Android was a pretty big deal, but initially a lot of devices couldn’t play it. Todays update among other features adds compatibility for the Asus Transformer Prime. 

Support is also added for the Medion Lifetab, but even better is the added support for the Gamestop Wireless Controller. Controls are also improved for currently supported gamepads, and for the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play.  [Read More…]

ASUS promises fix for Transformer Prime lockups as early as February


Though some will lament the fact that the ASUS Transformer Prime was released with several issues, ASUS has continued to impress us with its commitment to updates for its flagship tablet. Earlier this month, ASUS pushed out an update to Ice Cream Sandwich which brought with it fixes to several of the software hiccups plaguing the Prime (including GPS and WiFi performance), along with the wonderment of Android 4.0.

Transformer Prime bootloader unlock tool coming in Feb. says ASUS

The ASUS Transformer Prime is the first quad-core tablet, and users were a bit up in arms when it was discovered that the bootloader was locked.  ASUS responded with an official statement that a tool to unlock the bootloader was in development, and today their official Twitter account told everyone that it would be coming in February:

ASUS Transformer Prime OTA rolling out, brings new GPS software version

Gaming on the quad-core Tegra 3 powered Transformer Prime


We were in attendance for the NVIDIA press conference at CES last week and while the $ 249 Asus MeMO stole the show a bit at the end, it was the capabilities of the Tegra 3 processor powering the MeMO and of course the Transformer Prime that were highlighted for the majority of the presentation.

Since its release, the ASUS Transformer Prime TF201 has been met with its fair share of praises and criticism. ASUS to deliver first Android 4.0 update to Transformer Prime on Jan. 12, unlock tool in the works


ASUS and NVIDIA were the first to demonstrate Android 4.0 on a tablet and now it appears they will be the first to deliver the update to customers who purchased the Transformer Prime. Today ASUS announced on their Facebook page that the Transformer Prime would receive Android 4.0 via an over the air update starting January 12th.
