T-Mobile promises no price hikes* if Sprint merger approved

T-Mobile is in limbo. The company announced a merger with fourth place carrier Sprint what feels like years ago. Since then, Team Magenta has been on a full court press to convince the government to approve the deal. This includes making the case that the country needs real competition to AT&T and Verizon, not just another couple of also-rans.

HMD’s new Nokia 8.1 promises 2-days of battery life

HMD Global this week unveiled a new smartphone in the form of the Nokia 8.1. The new device will go on sale in Europe, as well as the UK for the affordable price of €399 / £379.99 (or $ 452). Interested parties will be able to place an order for it come January 14.

MediaTek Helio P70 chipset promises fluid gaming, fast LTE, and AI smarts

The P70 will start arriving in smartphones by this November.

Although it may not be as popular as Qualcomm here in the States, MediaTek is still one of the biggest names when it comes to mobile processors. The company just announced its latest chipset for smartphones, and it’s the MediaTek Helio P70.

The Helio P70 is the successor to the P60 from earlier this year and offers upgrades to both the CPU and GPU.

Google promises a fix to solve Pixel charging issue on Android 9

Update: Google has been made aware of the issue and is currently working on a fix. In a statement sent to The Verge, the search giant said the following:

“We’re aware of an issue where non-Power Delivery (PD) USB-C chargers no longer rapidly charge the 2016 Pixel and Pixel XL after the upgrade to Android 9 Pie. The 18W rapid charger included in-box is a PD charger and does not exhibit this behavior. We are verifying a fix for non-PD  [Read More…]

TicWatch Pro smartwatch with two displays promises monster battery life

Update: The dual-display TicWatch Pro went on sale in the US. Customers can pick up from Amazon in exchange for $ 249.

The watch is IP68 rated for water and dust resistance and runs Google’s Wear OS out of the box. Most importantly, the TicWatch Pro claims to be able to offer a battery life of up to one month in what it calls Essential mode. Motorola promises to change the way we use our phones on August 2
