Verizon introduces Safe Wi-Fi VPN for public networks, new prepaid promo

Public Wi-Fi networks are always a risky ordeal. You’re sending all of your data over an unsecured network, and if anyone wanted to intercept that data, it really isn’t that hard. Most people don’t think about it, but it’s a substantial security risk.

Verizon is trying to combat that with a new feature called Safe Wi-Fi. This feature is basically a VPN that is only enabled when you connect to public Wi-Fi networks. A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, encrypts  [Read More…]

Google has just released the fourth beta of Android P to developers and enthusiasts, marking the final release before the final is officially unveiled as a public release. Android P Beta 4 isn’t designed to offer much change over Beta 3, as any substantial change now would likely just be held for the public release.  [Read More…]

Motorola’s new Beta Experiences program will let you test new Moto features before they’re public

Motorola is taking app development more seriously.

When you think of Motorola’s phones, you think more about the hardware than the software — not because the latter is bad, but because it’s pretty sparse, yielding to Google’s idea of what Android should be. But there are a few differentiating features, like Moto Voice and Display, that are tucked neatly into the Moto app pre-installed on every phone.

In Sao Paolo, Brazil this week, during the launch of  [Read More…]

Vivo was originally marketing the Apex as just a concept device, but now it’s been confirmed that the phone will actually  [Read More…]

The latest feature in Android 8.1 Oreo introduces speed labels for public Wi-Fi networks.

Google has enabled a new feature in Android 8.1 Oreo that lets you see how fast a public Wi-Fi network is before you connect to it. Previously, all you could see was the signal strength indicator, so you had to manually connect to a network to gauge its speed. With the speed labels now in place, you can now get that information without having to  [Read More…]
