Another streaming service is about to raise its prices, too

That’s $ 60 for the year, across the board.

So the funniest thing just happened. First DirecTV Now increased the monthly price of its plans by $ 5 a month over the weekend. And you’ll never guess what else just happened.

Now PlayStation Vue is increasing the price of its plans by $ 5 a month. (Never mind that DirecTV Now had said it was increasing prices to better stay in line with where the market was.)

Amazon to raise cost of monthly Prime membership by $2 in February

A bad deal gets worse.

If you’re paying monthly instead of annually for your Amazon Prime membership, it’s going to cost you a bit more each month. Amazon will be raising the price by $ 2 per month starting on February 18, and the change applies to both new and existing customers. This will bring the monthly fee from $ 10.99 up to $ 12.99, meaning that you’ll be paying just under $ 156 for a year of Prime  [Read More…]

Sprint to raise $2.2 billion by selling and leasing back network assets

Sprint has announced a plan to sure up its financial house by striking a deal to sell portions of its network assets for $ 2.2 billion and then lease them back. As part of the deal, Sprint says the transaction will see network assets shifted to several remote entities (referred to collectively as Network LeaseCo) to be used as collateral for loans. Verizon to raise price of grandfathered unlimited data plan by $20 for those not under contract

Verizon may soon be raising the price of its unlimited data plan for those who are grandfathered in if they are not under contract anymore. This report, which comes from The Verge, states that Verizon will be hiking the cost of the plan up to $ 49 a month, up $ 20 from the current $ 30 a month fee.

Alcatel’s Pixi First aims to raise the bar on entry-level smartphones

Android phones come in all shapes, sizes and price ranges, and at IFA 2015 Alcatel Onetouch is working to expand its entry-level lineup with the Pixi First. Now this phone isn’t going to blow anyone away with specs or features, but at an entry-level price as potentially someone’s first smartphone it has a lot going for it.
