Google readying a 5G Pixel phone, report suggests

Xiaomi allegedly readying a new smartphone lineup to go after OPPO and Vivo

Bloomberg: Andy Rubin readying launch of new AI-focused phone

When the co-founder of Android makes a move, people pay attention.

According to a report from Bloomberg, Android co-founder and Google Robotics pioneer Andy Rubin has a team that’s going to build the next big deal — an artificial intelligence-centric smartphone and smart home products that work together.

Chinese vendor Meizu is readying a Star Trek-themed handset

Samsung has launched limited edition models of its flagships with Batman and Iron Man branding, and it now looks like Chinese manufacturer Meizu is following suit with its upcoming Star Trek edition of the M3E. Leaked images of the phone reveal the Starfleet insignia on the back of the phone, as well as a custom launcher with backgrounds and icons from the franchise.

Samsung could be readying a Batman-themed Galaxy Note 7 Injustice edition

After launching the Batman-themed Galaxy S7 edge Injustice Edition, it looks like Samsung will bring out a limited edition variant of the Galaxy Note 7 with the same color scheme. Leaked images on Weibo showcase a Note 7 with golden accents around the home button and the camera housing and a Batman logo at the back. The images also reveal a custom theme that’s based on Injustice: Gods Among Us.

Reuters: Microsoft readying Cortana for Android

As well as bundling their virtual assistant Cortana into Windows 10, the latest report is that it will also be offered as a standalone app for iOS and Android.

Eric Horvitz, managing director of Microsoft Research, said:

“This kind of technology, which can read and understand email, will play a central role in the next roll out of Cortana, which we are working on now for the fall time frame”.
