Google smartly rebrands Android Wear to Wear OS

Google today announced that it will no longer refer to its wearable platform as Android Wear. Rebranded as Wear OS, it will pick up new features in the coming weeks and months.

Wind Mobile rebrands Freedom Mobile, launches LTE network in Toronto, Vancouver

It’s Freedom Mobile time!

Canada’s Wind Mobile has rebranded Freedom Mobile as it looks to move into a new phase of maturity under new owner, Shaw Communications.

HERE Maps rebrands to HERE WeGo, adds new features

HERE Maps, the mobile mapping app that was sold by Nokia to a group of car companies in late 2015, has released a major update for Android in the Google Play Store. It also includes a name change to HERE WeGo.

LeTV rebrands as LeEco in India, debuts Le 1s and Le Max superphone

China’s LeTV has made its foray into the Indian market, rebranding as LeEco. The vendor has launched the Le 1s and Le Max “superphone” in the country, with the former set to go on sale starting February 2 and the latter from February 16. The company had previously showcased some of its lifestyle products at a press event hosted in New Delhi a couple of weeks ago.

Facebook rebrands controversial Internet.org as Free Basics

Facebook’s Internet.org initiative — through which the social networking giant provides a set of essential internet-based services for free — came under criticism last year over net neutrality concerns. Those in opposition of the initiative said that the services included with Internet.org would gain an unfair advantage over competing services that would not be accessible for free. IFTTT launches new Do Button, Do Camera and Do Note apps, rebrands original app to simply ‘IF’

Google rebrands Shopping Express, introduces same-day deliveries to more US cities

Google has rebranded its Shopping Express service, which enables consumers to take advantage of same day delivery from the company. It’s now simply titled Google Express, taking on-board feedback from the community. Google has also expanded the service with new cities and partners, and there’s also a membership subscription if you’re interested in having a lot of orders delivered.

Allthecooks rebrands app as Cookpad Recipes

Allthecooks, the recipe sharing service that’s gotten a good bit of attention as one of the initial Android Wear applications (and particularly as one that does things right) has rebranded its Android app.
