Samsung’s market share in Europe jumped to over 40% in Q2 2019

Samsung shipped more phones in Europe in Q2 2019 than Huawei and Apple combined.

What you need to know Samsung and Xiaomi were the two big gainers in the European smartphone market in Q2 2019. Samsung’s market share increased to 40.6% in Europe in the second quarter of 2019. Xiaomi shipped 4.3 million smartphones in European markets in Q2 2019, a growth of 48% over the same period last year.

Samsung’s new 108MP camera sensor takes the megapixel race to another level

Xiaomi will be the first smartphone maker to use the new 108MP ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor.

What you need to know Samsung has introduced the world’s first mobile image sensor with a resolution of 108 million pixels (MP). The new Samsung ISOCELL Bright HMX image sensor is said to have been developed in collaboration with Xiaomi. It is slated to enter mass production later this month.

Samsung’s 7nm Exynos 9825 goes official on the eve of Galaxy Note 10 launch

The Exynos 9825 will power the international variants of the Galaxy Note 10.

What you need to know With the Exynos 9825, Samsung is switching to a 7nm manufacturing node. The chipset shares the same cores as the Exynos 9810, but the switch to 7nm should eke out more energy efficiency. The Exynos 9825 will power global variants of the Note 10 series.

Samsung’s Q2 2019 profit falls by a staggering 56% after weak memory demand

Analysts expect the memory chip market to recover only in the second half of 2020.

Sprint customer accounts were breached by hackers using Samsung’s website

Sprint claims the information accessed by hackers did not pose any risk of fraud or identity theft.

What you need to know Sprint has said that hackers managed to break into its customer accounts through Samsung’s ‘add a line’ website. The carrier claims to have taken ‘appropriate action’ to secure the accounts of affected customers. Sprint hasn’t revealed exactly how many customer accounts were compromised by the breach.
