Amazfit Bip review: A $79 smartwatch that does it all

Look no further if you’re in the market for an affordable smartwatch.

The smartwatch segment is in continual decline, and although Qualcomm announced the Wear 3100 platform, we haven’t seen mainstream brands like Motorola or LG launch devices powered by the chipset yet. Wear OS in general is looking more and more like it is about to fade away into irrelevance, but it’s not the only option available if you’re in the market for a wearable.

If you can live without the Wear 3100 processor, the Falster 2’s worth a look.

Back at IFA this August, Skagen announced its Falster 2 Wear OS smartwatch. The original Falster was a good-looking wearable that lacked a few key features, and with the Falster 2, we have an even better design and many of the features the original model was lacking.

For my money, nobody builds a better summertime smartwatch than Casio. The company’s ProTrek series has it all: alti-barometers, rugged casings, standalone GPS, and dual-layer displays that offer incredible readability in direct sunlight. Even occasional outdoorsmen such as myself can appreciate the ProTrek F10 and F20 for the sheer boldness of their oversized designs, while those in search of more petite wearables have understandably gone elsewhere.

With the ProTrek WSD-F30, Casio seems to have gotten the memo  [Read More…]

Casio has kicked off IFA with a bang with their all-new Wear OS PRO TEK WSD-F30 smartwatch. The WSD-F30 continues with the tradition of their previous outdoor smartwatches. Including a rugged build and specialized features for all the tech-savvy outdoor lovers out there.

This time around they have shaved down the body a bit making it slightly less gargantuan. It might be slightly smaller but the WSD-F30 is still just as durable featuring MIL-STD-810 military certification, while also keeping the 5 bars water  [Read More…]

Turn the dial to 11.

Samsung’s new Galaxy Watch bears a striking resemblance to the Gear Sport from last year, but it’s refined in a number of ways that, along with the rebranding to bring it closer to the company’s line of Galaxy phones, could help it stand apart.

Available in two watch face sizes, 46mm and 42mm, the Galaxy Watch features an OLED display covered in Corning’s new Gorilla Glass DX+ glass built specifically for wearables.  [Read More…]

Fashion brand Emporio Armani is spearheading Wear OS efforts this summer with a refreshed model of its original Connected smartwatch.

The 2018 model brings some notable upgrades to the table including a heart rate sensor, GPS and NFC technology to use for Google Pay. Even so, the Emporio Armani Connected 2018 still runs on the aged Snapdragon 2100 platform. Which, according to a report dating back from May, it’s bound to be replaced soon. Apparently, Qualcomm is working on a  [Read More…]
