Nougat for 2015-era phones, thanks to Samsung and Sprint.

The 2015-era Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 edge+ are getting their Nougat updates on Sprint today. Sprint is going all-in on unlimited and killing its 50%-off deal to boost revenue

Sprint is getting rid of its metered plans entirely as it moves to a single unlimited plan.

Sprint has announced its intention to get rid of its metered plans and go all-in on unlimited as it tries to find a balance between the intensely competitive U.S. wireless market and its own need to keep revenues high.

T-Mobile, AT&T, and Sprint are already shipping LG G6 pre-orders

LG G6 is already in the hands of a few lucky customers.

U.S. carriers have kicked off pre-orders for the LG G6 ahead of its debut in the country on April 7, and customers that have ordered the device are already starting to see shipping notices, with deliveries scheduled for later this week. Sprint starts rolling out Nougat update to Galaxy S7 and S7 edge

Sprint Galaxy S7 and S7 edge users are now picking up the stable Nougat update.

After T-Mobile and AT&T, Sprint is now rolling out the stable Nougat update to the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge. The update is rolling out to beta testers right now, and should make its way to all users shortly.

Softbank still wants Sprint and T-Mobile to merge

CNBC reports that Softbank still has goals of a Sprint / T-Mobile merger becoming a valid number three carrier in the U.S. and it has a novel way of getting it to happen this time: giving control of Sprint to Deutsche Telekom and becoming a minor partner in a new combined network.

SoftBank reportedly seeking Sprint merger with T-Mobile

When it comes to merger rumors, one of the hallmark cases goes to Sprint and T-Mobile, which has been put on the table more than a few times over the years.

Now, Reuters reports that SoftBank, the company that owns 83 percent of Sprint, is preparing to start negotiations with Deutsche Telekom, all in hopes of merging Sprint and T-Mobile.
